Monmouth Park Racing Analysis — Sunday, July 28, 2019, by Neil Petrocelli

Beautiful day on the Jersey shore.  Competitive J-bred races, including a 2 yr. old maiden special.  Turf stake may have budding star or two in it!

Race 1:  2 – 7 – 5

With many coming in off wins, Solar’s last looks most impressive of all.  Claimed out of last by top barn and has a smart work coming in.  Souper Courage will be tough if he reverts to stalking style.  Bigmouthed big big win in last, big jump up, big time barn.

Race 2:  4 – 3 -1

A rarity – all who have raced come out of the same race –  Looking for jump up improvement from No More Veggies – nice gate work coming in to this.  Big Looker will be tough, and will be bet.  Perspicacious will also be tough, always draws the rail, saves ground and finishes.

Race 3:  5 – 2 – 6

In a race where consistency is hard to find, Southern Touch comes in looking for 4 straight.  Nice work the other day – should maintain the streak.  Preziosa may enjoy move to Monmouth.  Steady works coming in off brief freshening.  Kabuki fast track record intrigues, may present front end issues for ST.

Race 4:   5 – 8 – 3

Stylish Lily wheels right back off claim.  A repeat of last has her finishing best.  Passion’s Image will move up on grass.  Wakes up.  Adreamgoesonforever will be ridden more patiently today – gets a share.

Race 5:  2 – 3 – 1

Meade has not been consistent, but may have turned the corner in last.  Can go back to back.  Camgo will be tough off the drop.  The barn.  Thesis gets Lasix added and a major subtraction – should prove tough off mini freshening.

Race 6:   3 – 7 – 5

Tough bunch – giving the edge to Martini Kid comes in looking for 3rd straight over the course.  Roll Again Question has been running in best races of late, and running well.  Grasses.  If he shakes free – rolls ….Tree Shaker gets a share with typical good finish.

Race 7:  5 – 3 -6

Sassy Chub sits just off the pace, gets first jump on Blank Paige, who saves ground and finishes.  Chubooftheoldblock should be finishing as well.  Competitive race.

Race 8:  8 – 9 – 2

Scattered Strikes – best races, barn, breeding and a rock hard turf course spell victory.  Border Town – Brown, breeding, Brown, nuff said.  Relishment will be tough on stretchout and surface switch.

Race 9:  7 – 5 – 1

Fake Frontier sits just off the speed and gets 1st jump on the closers.  Cheddar Chub returns to winning surface.  Best Choice – big, big jockey change, sits rail trip and closes.

Race 10:   7 – 8 – 4

Ionic – Centeno here for this reason.  Keeps improving, may be a ‘name’ going forward.  Mercilla returns to turf will be tough if can save some ground without getting into traffic.  Ellyb been formidable at the meet.  Hard to fault.

Race 11:  1 – 9 – 2

Assault Weapon – dam was an astute claim by Spina – went on to be a stakes winner over the track – could sprint or go long – Ferrer will gun from the rail.  GO!  Morning Jackpot will be going from the outside, has the breeding to be speedy.  Onethingoranother should improve, will be bet.

Race 12: 1 – 2 – 3

Muggsamatic – looks tough off the claim and drop.  Jock switch helps – quick dividends.  Zefiro returns to grass, and finishes – but Mugs gets first jump.  Total Tap has been consistent of late, with competitive figures.

Race 13 – 5 – 4 – 2

Midnight Sky will be deservedly pounded at the windows -but will try to beat her with Exceed the Goal – a new face on scene.  Drops in for barn with impressive stats at the meet.  Very Charming will be tough if she breaks well.
