Golden Gate Fields Racing Analysis — Friday, May 15, 2020, by Rob Tuck

Race 1 – 6F MC 12,500

#3 Hula King (8/1) is cutting back in distance after a slow break running a mile last out. Has showed speed sprinting and could have a lonely lead up front.

#7 No More Fireball (7/2) is dropping in class for the second career start. Was close to the pace in the debut, expect Kyle Frey to have this one in a good spot.

#1 Unusual Mischief (8/1) improved at this level last out finishing 4th. Has competitive numbers in here.

3-7-1

Race 2 – 5.5F ALW 50,000

#7 Eustace (6/1) was an impressive maiden breaker from off the pace last out. With lots of speed in this race may have the perfect set up.

#6 Trump Um (2/1) comes in with a bullet 3F work (1 of 36) last week. Has good early speed and should be sent to the front by Kent Desormeaux.

#3 Slam Dunk Sermon (5/2) ran a solid 3rd at this level last out. Should be up close to the early lead.

7-6-3

Race 3 – 1 Mile (Turf) MDN 30k

#1 Olive You More (7/2) ships in from Southern California for trainer Mike McCarthy. Has shown a good closing kick on the turf at Santa Anita and could be dangerous late.

#3 Star of Africa (6/1) broke slowly in the debut and closed well. Look for improvement with a clean trip.

#2 Don’t Unzip Me (5/2) has run on the turf unsuccessfully in Southern California. Showed good speed on the tapeta last out at a mile. This one should be up close.

1-3-2

Race 4 – 1 Mile CLM 12,500

#2 Single Barrel (12/1) closed well to win on debut. Had a bullet 5F work (1 of 31) during the racing hiatus. Expect to be rolling late.

#4 Megameister (6/5) has very good early speed. Expect Kyle Frey to waste no time and control the tempo up front. Has been caught late in consecutive races, dropping in class and lack of speed in this field will help.

#8 Bottle of Smoke (3/1) ran a disappointing 5th last out behind Megameister after winning back to back races. Look to sit back and make a late run.

2-4-8

Race 5 – 6F CLM 40,000

#7 Honeymoonz Over (3/1) has very good speed and should be the early leader. Comes in with back to back wins with rider Ricardo Gonzalez.

#3 Passionate Reward (5/2) has 4 wins and a 2nd place finish in 5 starts at Golden Gate. Juan Hernandez knows this one well, expect to be just off the pace.

#4 Bear Chum (7/2) has 3 in a row and 5 wins in 7 starts at Golden Gate. Should be up close for Frank Alvarado.

7-3-4

Race 6 – 6F MC 5,000

#1 Nathansmimsy (4/1) sent out for trainer Jamey Thomas (28%). Ran a good 2nd in the debut with Francisco Monroy who stays aboard. Expect improvement second time out.

#5 Chief Eagle Eye (7/2) has finished 3rd in consecutive races. Bullet work (1 of 22) on April 11th over 3F. Expect to be around the early pace.

#8 Fair Challenge (9/2) has not raced since February 2019 at Santa Anita. Dropping from maiden 50k to 5K for Andy Mathis first off the claim.

1-5-8

Race 7 – 5.5F CLM 4,000

#3 Tequila Blanco (5/2) has ran on the Golden Gate turf course but never over the Tapeta. Has not raced since September but is dropping in class for Steve Miyadi (29%). Should have a fast pace to chase.

#1 Badger (3/1) has early speed and should be sent from the rail post. Good recent workouts and dropping in class.

#6 Raindance Rules (4/1) is sent out for trainer Ed Moger. Has not raced since September 2018 at Del Mar. Is working well up to the comeback but might need a race.

3-1-6

Race 8 – 1 1/16 Miles (Turf) ALW 50,000

#7 Imperator (7/2) just missed finishing 2nd ahead of Electoral and Boyson last out. Should be up close to the pace in the turf debut.

#6 Electoral (3/1) tries the turf for the first time for trainer Jonathan Wong (30%). Should be closing late.

#4 Boyson (4/1) should appreciate the stretch out in distance after finishing 3rd last out. Catalino Martinez rides for William Delia.

7-6-4

Race 9 – 5.5F CLM 5,000

#3 Mercy Rule (3/1) won impressively last out for Steve Miyadi. In the money 9/14 lifetime.

#6 Jamason (7/2) has been racing competitively at this level. Kent Desormeaux rides for trainer Bob Hess.
