Most likely the track will be good to fast. Normally the track is kind to speed as the track dries out. It is something to look at and adjust. Please follow me @jailmovemaster . I always post thoughts and pick changes based on scratches or track trends. I’ll be traveling to Atlantic City for the week but feel free to say hi.
I always love talking horses and handicapping angles and always make sure to keep horseplayers informed with up to minute info @nyra. Good luck!
Conservative Pick 5 Play- 3 / 2,3 /4 / 6 / ALL = $9
Aggressive Pick 5 Play – 3,4 / 1,2,3,4,6 / 1,2,4 / 6 / ALL = $135
Race 1- 3-4-1
Arewehavingfunyet looks much the best on paper and towers over this field on speed figures. The only thing to be concerned about is her lack of early speed in a race where nobody wants the early lead. Hopefully she will not be pace compromised. If she is, #4 Havana Affair should be alone on the lead and capable of wiring this cheap field if left alone.
Race 2- 3-2-4
I’ll take a slight chance against the favorite who has been beaten by 16,6,10,6,17,3, & 7 lengths respectively in his 7 starts. #3 Somebody has a few excuses in his resume and with a clean break can make some noise to bring some value to the early double. #4 Novus is a play against for me as a horse whose dirt races are deceptively competitive here.
Race 3- 4-2-1
#4- American Power- I normally do not like Linda Rice when she drops horses but Linda also has great numbers when running a horse back within a week of it’s last race. He should have plenty of pace to run into and looks like a logical horse to win here. #2 Blessed Halo is the best of the speed horses and likely to get the lead being near the rail. #1- Joe’s Smokin Gun can sit the closing trip on the rail if the speed backs up.
Race 4- 6-8-5
I really wish I could give you a nice price in this sequence but the logical two horses should get you out of the pick 5 here. I really like #6- Science Fiction in this spot and David Cohen has been riding very well for Diodoro who does well with maidens going 3rd off the bench.
Race 5- 1-9-6
#1- Mohican – I need a price in this sequence and this seems like the right spot. It is hard to trust the favorite who if he runs back to his last will crush these. But why not jump the horse up off that 25k win? I’ll take a shot with this 10-1 shot whose race two back looked impressive despite bobbling out of the gate. There is enough pace projected to set up his closing kick and like I mentioned in race 4, the connections are going well.
#9- Ohsheacanyousee – This is probably a horrible 2nd choice. The horse will either win for fun or run up the track. It is worth noting that Lezcano will not be on the horse so definitely check the changes to see who will be riding him.
Race 6- 9-13-2
#9- Star Sweep looks like the best of the first time starters. Mark Hennig does wonders with 1st time starters and the dam produces a few winners. A David Cohen pick 3?
#13- Abraxan- She will need someone to scratch to get in but looks like the most likely winner if she gets in.
Race 7- 7-6-1
#7- Point to Remember – This looks like a strong single for me. He just lost to next out winner Mr. Buff last time out and has been improving each time out. The workouts in the morning make it look like he has been kicking the barn door to run.
#6- Eagle Pass- Looks like a live longshot and the horse most likely to improve having only run 4 times.
Race 8- 6-5-1
Race 9- 5-3-1
