Aqueduct Racing Analysis- Friday Dec 20 2019- By Chris Felts

We have 8 races today at Aqueduct (unless they cancel again, lol) and a first post time of 12:30. Some decent races including a nice open allowance field in race 7. Follow me on twitter for any updates and changes @cjfelts87. Let’s get some winners home!

Through 19 Daily Gallop writeups Total: 177-43-34-37 (24% win, 65% ITM)

Aqueduct meet totals: 28-8-2-8, $2.10 ROI for every $2 bet ($56 wagered = $58.60 returned)

Race 1 MCL 25k fillies and mares 3up, 1 mile

Multi Race- A: 1 B: 2

Top pick- #1 Eighty Seven North

  • I think she makes the most sense here as the ML favorite, switches to dirt and has shown ability to come off the pace on turf, and adding blinkers should keep her close early on.

Second choice- #2 Blahnik

  • Has speed and drops down from the maiden special level. My concern is that I’m not sure how she will handle stretching to a mile out which is why I will not play her on top and is too short of a price for me.

Race 2 CLM 16k N2L fillies and mares 3up, 1 mile

Multi Race- A: 3,5 B: 4,6

Top pick- #3 First Dawn

  • You probably won’t get 6-1 here but she got a bad trip last race and if you look at her form since the layoff she has been improving. I like the fact that Eric Cancel stays on and should she get a clean trip has as good a chance as any.

Second choice- #5 Chillinwithfriends

  • May be the controlling speed here and has a first and second in 2 tries at the distance. 8-5 is too short a price for me but she could very well get loose on the lead.

Underneath- #4 Icy Calm, #6 Smiles From Sadie

Race 3 MCL 30k fillies 2yo, 1 mile

Multi Race- A: 5,6 B: 2/2B, 7

Top pick- #6 Tokyo Bay

  • Showed improvement in a turf route first off the layoff and will be a threat if she can handle the surface switch. Jose Lezcano stays aboard which is a positive too.

Second choice- #5 Evade

  • Flashed speed in debut over turf and now will switch surfaces for a trainer that is 27% making that switch. Dylan Davis up.

Underneath- #2B Shine Like Bobby, #7 Barker Lane

Race 4 CLM 25k N2L fillies and mares 3up, 6.5 furlongs

Multi Race- A: 2,3 B: 1,4

Top pick- #3 Cairo Queen

  • I’ll try to beat the even money favorite with his 3 year old filly who is improving in form. Didn’t get a great trip last race and has the ability to sit off the pace in a race that has a good amount of speed.

Second choice- #2 Wisconsin Night

  • She has speed and is the even money favorite but failed as the favorite last time out and I don’t think she is quick enough to go wire to wire, but will still be tough to beat.

Underneath- #4 Ghostly Beauty, #5 Dazzling Speed

Race 5 CLM 25k state bred 3up, 1 mile

Multi Race- A: 1,6 B: 2,7

Top pick- #6 Gambler’s Fallacy

  • You won’t get a price because it’s a Chad Brown horse but he seems like the most logical contender if he can improve third off the layoff. Switches surfaces and his dirt form is decent enough to make him a player.

Second choice- #1 Zonic

  • I’ll throw him in as a price, recent form hasn’t been great but he will enjoy the class relief and gets Lezcano in the irons.

Underneath- #2 Three to Thirteen, #7 H Man

Race 6 CLM 35k N3L 3up, 1 mile

Multi Race- A: 1,10 B: 5,9

Top pick- #10 Sargeant Drive

  • Won at the N2L level last out and now takes a step up to the next non-winners condition. He likes the mile distance and you could get a price here

Second choice- #1 Proven Reserves

  • Another short priced Chad Brown horse but he drops in from the n2x optional claiming level and can improve second off the layoff.

Underneath- #5 Kumar, #9 Like What I See

Race 7 ALW 82k state bred fillies and mares 3up, 6 furlongs

Multi Race- A: 1,6 B: 4,5

Top pick- #1 Fair Regis

  • Drops in from stakes company for Jason Servis and will also appreciate the cutback in distance. Tough to beat at 7-5 ML.

Second choice- #6 Kept True

  • Can improve second off the layoff and has enough speed to be in contention most of the way around. Not a bad alternative if trying to beat the favorite.

Underneath- #4 My Roxy Girl, #5 Jc’s Shooting Star

Race 8 MSW 60k state bred 3up, 1 mile

Multi Race- A: 4,9 B: 6,8

Top pick- #4 Crazy Life

  • Chad Brown may very well go 3 for 3 today and this one in the finale should be in contention. His dirt form is decent and he could improve second off the layoff. 7-2 ML is a nice price if you can get it.

Second choice- #9 Kingfish

  • Improving in form as he switches back to dirt and adding blinkers will put him up front early on. Worth a look at 12-1 ML.

Underneath- #6 Freaky Styley, #8 Dancers for Token
