Race 1- 1st #1 All Hands on Deck had a decent outing last time with a third place. He had a couple of months off too which should help him to improve here, and it would be nice to see his trainer get their first win of the meet.
2nd #4 Swifty Sam looks good here, won two back and finished third last out at Indiana. Never really loses by much either which is something I consider to be a good thing. First race at Turfway today.
3rd #5 Native Flora gets a chance here because he’s slowly been coming down in class. I don’t like how he runs, but do think the class drop will be a help to him.
Race 2- 1st #4 Unveiling could maybe go two wins in a row, that would be cool. Won by a head last out with Martin Garcia. Good effort, but it was a weak field.
2nd #8 Brightworthy has had four months off. Coming off of a win. I think the class drop is what benefited him into getting the win, and hopefully here he can hit the board.
3rd #10 Grade has had some poor efforts lately, but even coming down by $2,500 could help him. I’m curious if the jockey change would also change anything.
Race 3- 1st #4 Artegon likes his job, and for the most part, is pretty consistent. Seven wins out of twenty three starts is a lot for any horse, and what I like about him is he always tries harder than the others and it pays off.
2nd #5 Shackleford’s Storm could be helped by the $5K class drop hopefully here, because this one could use some luck based off of his last race, which was a tenth place finish.
3rd #9 Four Left Feet comes from Chicago, where he seems to have been struggling lately. He’s so inconsistent, with some races being good and others he just loses by so much, but is due for a good race.
Race 4- 1st #12 Girls Got Track has to break from the twelve hole which could hurt her chances, and she loses the jockey that won on her which is a little bit of a bummer. She’s unbeaten in Kentucky, let’s see how she likes the synthetic.
2nd #10 Bella Kristina gets another chance after losing her jockey at the start of her last race. She also goes back to having a jockey that’s won on her, so I think the Ken McPeek filly will be in better shape.
3rd #2 Christian Miss looks ok in this spot, coming from Indiana. She beat Quite a Babe last out, (another in this race), and only lost by three quarters of a length. New trainer too.
Race 5- 1st #2 Pomp and Pageantry is kind of hard not to take, even with a not so hot debut race. She’s bred well, owned by the Ramsey’s and trained by Wesley Ward so she has the tools to succeed.
2nd #3 Elsie’s First has only ran once also, and it was a fifth-place finish. The daughter of Tapizar didn’t break fast enough and pretty much lost her chances right there.
3rd #9 Silver Take Charge looks like she deserves another chance. Her first race was like many in this field, at Churchill, and was a tough race with fields full of talent. Maybe today will be the day.
Race 6- 1st #5 Anna’s Fast is rightfully so the chalk. I took her last out, but she scratched. I’m looking forward to seeing her come back from the long layoff, she appears to be quite talented.
2nd #1 Well Spend definitely deserves some chances coming out of stakes races. Has talent, but the races were tough. I’m curious why the trainer’s change too.
3rd #6 Ruby Y’all had a nice win first time out, but last out just didn’t get a great trip. I think the field may have been a little much for her also, but she raced greenly.
Race 7- 1st #4 Fun Finder gets to come to an easier track with better opportunities. It’s not that her races have been terrible, but they have been terribly tough, so looking forward to her having a better shot.
2nd #6 Speedy Solution I just couldn’t trust taking on top because that is an eleven month layoff. Wow. 3/1 is a fair price, but be mindful of betting horses that have such enermous layoff times. It may take a couple races to get back into the swing of it.
3rd #8 Silent Surprise has potential to run a good one here too. She’s been in some tough races at Churchill and Keeneland, and this could be a little easier for her.
Race 8- 1st #5 Anima comes down in class, ships in from out East. She’s never been here before so it’ll be good to see how she can handle the surface being it’s synthetic and new to her.
2nd #10 Calika Rose shouldn’t be 4/1 but this is such a weak field that someone had to be 4/1. Ran at this level last out and made some ground, but it wasn’t her best effort.
3rd #6 Anaylze this Cat ran fouth last out beaten by five and a half, wasn’t a bad effort, but I’d like to see more. Maybe start number fifteen can be the winning one.
