Hey everyone, Bryan Doranski returning here for another Stronach Pick 5!! For the 4 weeks I have done this we are 1:4 but +$836! Have gone 4:5, 3:5, 4:5, 5:5 We really can’t complain how this is going!!! Last week I was at NHC but they cancelled the sequence anyways so it worked out! I might be a might premature with some of the angles but, if you do the work, this sequence seems almost too logical considering. Let’s hope this week doesn’t get cancelled!!!

Laurel R8 3:50PM EST Maiden Claiming $5k 5.5F on Dirt
Well here we go, a decent sized field to start this sequence off.
4 UNBRIDLED OUTLAW- This horse feels like much the best here, especially after 2 good performances since coming under training for Anthony Farrior. Alex Cintron retains the mount and this horse after missing both times out, drop into waiver claimer and should be able to win today.
1A LASER LOOP-This horse is only slightly a career loser having won 3 out of 14 times. Has missed the board in every other outing, with what appeared to be some optimistic placements at best.
5 FIFTY- Horse was going the wrong direction and then got a nice layoff. Should be able to return to a good form, and brings a price today on the ML. Not sure if we see it, but given the suspect workout pattern coming into today, this horse may need one before it is a serious threat. Juan Vazquez isn’t exactly gold off a layoff so might see how this horse looks in the paddock since this is the first leg of the sequence.
Gulfstream Park R7 4:03PM EST Claiming $40k 8F on Turf for Fillies and Mares
5 KITTEN BY THE SEA- Michael Maker horse making third start- but this is first against winners. Irad has the mount here, but in a field of fillies and mares full of career losers, this could be an easy spot for a 50% winner horse. Has the pedigree from Kitten’s Joy and US Ranger on the dam side for both distance and the turf.
8 SO CHARMING-A few weeks ago, we talked about not tossing a Paco Lopez horse from a sequence at Gulfstream. Well here he is on the mount for Saffie Joseph. These 2 on turf are 6/9 for a nice 1.98 ROI. That’s enough for me usually but after a layoff Saffie is winning at 29%- book this and lets move on!
Golden Gate R3 3:44PM EST Claiming $8K 5.5 F on Synthetic
1 HOT N’FAMOUS- I like this horse here and offers some decent value on the rail. Horse showed last out doesn’t need to lead to win and can sit back. This race does not seem to have a ton of early speed, if returns to the same effort as January 10th could very well win today.
5 DRIZZY- Horse didn’t seem to want to run last out and still finished well. Comes back a few weeks later and cuts back. Interesting move here for a trainer that’s hitting at 13% with such a move.
7 SMOKIN ENCOUNTER- Have to use this horse today. I don’t want to as the horse broke maiden, then won first out last out as the favorite. That was almost 50 days ago. Has to improve here but seems so logical would hate to lose by tossing.
Santa Anita R4 4:29PM EST Allowance Optional Claimer $50k 8F on Turf for Fillies
This field does not seem to be as close as initially thought on paper. There are probably a few that stand out that I can sneak by with.
1 WARRIOR’S MOON- This filly was running in some decent company last 2 races for big time show finishes to come back here. In a way it feels like an odd spot, but at the same time, this is a decent allowance race. Flavien gets the mount and hes winning 27% for Peter Eurton. This horse is going to be short but makes a lot of sense here.
4 SHES’S DEVOTED- 2nd time starter here won last out with Joel Rosario aboard. Horse can from off the pace and I expect much of the same today. We should see enough pace from the 2,3,8 that this horse is an include for me. If the speed horses scratch, then maybe we have to look at a different scenario, but this filly should have a pace to come from.
6 TEACHERS DREAM BIG- This horse hasn’t finished last 2 out, but I am upgrading this horse with Umberto Rispoli on the mount. Hes gotten very lively mounts since comes over and now Eddie Truman is going to us him for the first time. Expect a nice pressing trip and could get first run on the leaders on SHE’S DEVOTED.
Gulfstream Park R10 5:33PM EST Maiden Claiming $16k 8.5F on Turf for Fillies
What a big field here before scratches, this could be a good race.
11 ZANDREA’S – This horse is interesting to me. 2nd time starter here for Oscar Gonzalez. If this horse takes a step forward in its 2nd start, should be competitive here, and the outside is ok lately at turf at Gulfstream. Would like to see a “better” jockey here but should be a live price here with Sanchez aboard
6 BETTER BEGIN- Horse is 0/7 for Ralph Nicks but comes today with Irad on the mount. Does that help this horse in this spot? It could but I cannot put much money on it. I will want a little of this horse for the sanity of hedging.
My Play
What a good sequence and trying to his this for around $100 is tough. I have not solicited much A/B/C type play in this column, as I am trying to keep it easy for newer people, but this is a sequence if you understand the ticket building of an ABC wager, that you would have a lot of coverage for about the same output.

This gets us in the game for $108. The scratches in the 10th were helpful to me today, and we are at a fair value point! Good luck today everyone!!!
