The Louisiana G3

  1. My Boy Jack- Kent Desormeaux- Keith Desormeaux
    1. My Boy Jack has never really done anything to catch my eye in his previous races. He hasn’t won since 2018, and that was during his 3yo campaign in which he was actually pretty decent. He has always been a back of the pack one run type of horse and in this race, I think there are better closers in this field, and I think My Boy Jack’s best days are behind him.
  2. Silver Dust- Jack Gilligan- Bret Calhoun
    1. Silver Dust is a very contentious horse today if he gets the right and normal trip he usually gets. I think Silver Dust might get the jump on Gun It for the early lead, and I think Silver Dust is more likely to keep the lead rather than Gun It. Silver Dust seems to prefer Fair Grounds over other racetracks. He has beaten Kukulkan two times before, one in which he ran 2nd but Kukulkan ran 3rd. I really like this horse on top today. Hopefully, he sits right off of Gun It or he actually gets the lead.
  3. Blended Citizen- Florent Geroux- Brad Cox
    1. Blended Citizen has always been a horse I followed ever since his 3yo campaign. He seems to be able to sit close to the pace and just missed here at Fair Grounds last time out. He might not be as classy as the rest of the field but has won the bigger races when asked. Geroux seems to know how to get this horse running down the stretch which is beneficial. I think if the pace ends up being a duel, Blended Citizen could circle the leaders down the stretch.
  4. Gun It- Ricardo Santana Jr.- Steve Asmussen
    1. Gun It is fast, but isn’t as classy. He should be able to sit very close to Silver Dust if he doesn’t go for the lead early on. However, I think that he needs more of a set up for him to really be able to win. When he does sit off the pace he seems to hang sometimes down the stretch, so I will be looking elsewhere.
  5. Captivating Moon- B.J. Hernandez Jr.- Chris Block
    1. Captivating Moon, is the best closer in the race in my opinion and with a potential speed duel early on. He might prefer turf but I think that if the two to three speed horses locked up early, Captivating Moon is the one that would be running the fastest late. The only knock on him is that he might prefer the off going or the turf over a fast track. If the track does go to a sloppier condition, this is a more favorable horse for me. Still due to the possible speed duel and his sweeping kick, I will be using this horse on all my tickets.
  6. Roiland- James Graham- Thomas Amoss
    1. Roiland to me is one of two tosses in this field. He seems to be just too slow, and not the classiest of the bunch. He needs a complete set up for him, and also prefers to be closer to the lead instead of mid pack which I don’t see really happening today. Will look elsewhere.
  7. Tone Broke- Joe Talamo- Steve Asmussen
    1. Tone Broke isn’t a toss for me but I’m not a huge fan. He isn’t classy, and he seems to be an off the pace type of horse. His runstyle might be the only beneficial thing for him in this field. Asmussen has two in this field and this is the one that could get the set up at a price.
  8. Kukulkan(MEX)- Miguel Mena- Fausto Gutierrez
    1. Ever since coming to America Kukulkan has been consistent besides the two races in which he finished in the back of the pack. He has never raced at Fair Grounds and has never had Miguel Mena aboard. Silver Dust has beaten him a couple of times and he could be on the lead early if he gets sent from the far outside post. If he is sitting close enough he could make an aggressive move and could win. Must use.
