Stakes Preview: G3 Fall Highweight Handicap, by Andrew Rdesinski

In a race filled with early pace, only a few legit contenders prevail. Some stepping up in class and some staying put. Find which ones are legit in my opinion down below. BEST of luck.

  1. Wonderful Light – Joel Rosario – Michelle Nevin
    1. Wonderful Light seems to be a one paced horse but seems to like to sit close to the lead and make one run. Rosario is the best when it comes to timing in a race so I expect him to be able to get this horse in the right spot and possibly to the winner circle.
  2. Strike Power – Javier Castellano – Mark Henning
    1. Strike Power seems to be a horse going to the lead early. 6 furlongs should fit this colt nicely, and Javier can get aggressive when needed. I think his best days might be behind him however which is a negative. He will have to go gate to wire in order for him to beat me
  3. Nicodemus- Michael Luzzi – Linda Rice
    1. I am not a fan of this horse today and I know he will be bet. I just can’t trust Mike Luzzi in these spots anymore, and he seems to prefer a sloppy track rather than a fast track. That is the only way I see him winning today so I will look other horses.
  4. Happy Farm – Jose Lezcano – Jason Servis
    1. Happy Farm has been straight up dominating every field put in front of him. Jason Servis has been dominating as well so I expect these connections to dominate today as well. He can rate or go to the lead so whichever ends up being his run style that’s the one I know he will be comfortable with. He’s one of my top choices today.
  5. Stan the Man – Dylan Davis- John Terranova
    1. Stan the Man seems to be a horse that is going to go to the lead early and try and take them gate to wire. However, the cutback should be beneficial for him. Dylan Davis is his usual rider and usually rides the best with him aboard. With all the Lined up pace I will have to pass.
  6. Seethisquick – Joey Martinez- Darmindra Dharamjit
    1. Joey Martinez is an ultra aggressive rider and will be sending here in my opinion. I don’t trust the trainer though, and the jump up in class isn’t beneficial for him. Will have to pass.
  7. Recruiting Ready – Irad Ortiz Jr.- Stanley Hough
    1. Irad usually is on the best horse in these situations and this one seems to be one of the top horses in the field. He will be close to the pace early and Irad should be able to sit the trip with this horse who is in top form. I like him in this spot as well.
  8. No Distoriton – Eric Cancel- Bob Dunham
    1. No Distortion will be one of the longer shots in this field. Coming into this race out of waiver claiming races it’s a great sign. The post isn’t the best for him either as he should be wide throughout. I will have to pass
