Stake Preview- G3 Mr. Prospector- Saturday Dec 21 2019- By Andrew Rdesinski

Mr. Prospector Grade 3

Class is the name of this race, and so will be pace. With a ton of pace who will hold on, or who will close. Small Field can result in tricky results. Find out who I like down below and best of luck to all who wager.

  1. Home Base- Chris Landeros- Michael Tomlinson
    1. The inside post in this very small but super classy Grade 3 field is Home Base for Michael Tomlinson. This Ontario Bred is coming in from the Kentucky Circuit and is getting Landeros for the first time aboard. He is simply just an Optional Claiming type of horse with no tactical speed. He is trending in the right direction with speed figures and form. I just don’t see him being even in this race when it comes to class and speed. Could end up finishing last.
  2. Imperial Hint- Javier Casteallno- Luis Carvajal Jr.
    1. Good Old Imperial Hint. This horse has bias for us Mid Atlantic and specifically Parx betters and fans as this horse started here and is trained by a local trainer. Imperial Hint is one of the smallest yet quickest and strongest horses I ever seen train or run with my own two eyes. He can rate but he prefers to go to the front early. Javier Castellano is the only jockey to get this horse to win and gets back aboard again today. He is training lights out and should be the winner here in my opinion.
  3. X Y Jet- Emisael Jaramillo- Jorge Navarro
    1. X Y Jet is another horse I can see winning here but I think he will have to be quicker than Imperial Hint early on and I think the way these two are coming into this race I think X Y Jet will be a step slow early but will obviously be in contention early. Navarro has been ICE COLD this meet so far so that could come into effect along with the layoff he is coming into this race off of. Definitely will be a legit contender but I think he might be a little tired today.
  4. Zenden- John Velazquez- Todd Pletcher
    1. Zenden is the lightest raced horse in the field and is getting the hall of fame jockey in John Velazquez aboard today. He will be contending early but will be outclassed and probably not quite fast enough to keep up with the horses inside of him. He was on the derby trail this year breifly but obviously is a sprinting horse. I think the horse has been training well but will be outclassed today. Definitely will be using underneath.
  5. Lasting Legacy- Irad Ortiz Jr.- Jason Servis
    1. Jason Servis has been on fire all year and Lasting Legacy has yet to lose since coming back to the Servis barn. He went 3 for 3 at Monmouth earlier this year and already won a Mr. Prospector Stakes but that was a small stake at Monmouth which he ran a 101 beyer. Irad Ortiz gets aboard today for the first time which is an upgrade from Paco Lopez. If the speed horses duel early and the pace falls apart which can very likely happen. I can see Irad blowing by in the stretch and winning as an upset. Will use on every ticket.
  6. Diamond Oops- Julien Leparoux- Patrick Biancone
    1. Diamond Oops has never been on my radar. Each race I tend to stay away from him more and more. He is a distance horse and also loves Gulfstream. I think if it was farther in distance he would fit here but I just think he will be just starting to get going and it will be too late.
