Stake Preview: G2 San Marcos- Saturday Feb 1st 2020-By Spencer Luginbuhl

#1 Chosen Vessel: 12-1 This son of English Channel has run in back to back G2 and not hit the board yet although the Beyers stack up ok in this race. Trainer Craig Dollase is only 7% turf and this horse’s best win to date is a 40K N1X. This one might finish rounding out Tri’s at a nice number

#2 Cleopatra’s Strike: 2-1 4 out of 5 ITM in G2 and has won one race The John Henry Turf Championship his Beyers fit right in that low to mid 90’s. Has never been out of the exacta at SA but does like to finish second a lot something that you don’t like to see at a short price.

#3 Multiplier 12-1 just seems to be outclassed and not fast enough for this field and hasn’t won in his last 10 races.

#4 United 8-5 well-deserving favorite 3-3 at the G2 class level just hasn’t won yet ran a real gritty race to just miss in the BC to HOY Bricks and mortar if he runs back to that effort 2 back he wins for fun I don’t think that will happen and the rest of the Beyers don’t make him an overwhelming choice. 5-5 ITM in his last 5 so in great form just dont know how low of a price you want to take on a horse like this.

#5 Brown Storm 6-1 Slowly improving in both US races but usually when they don’t win first or second out I usually try to avoid these south American Shippers. After this race look for this horse possible in an Allowance race next time out.

#7 Oscar Dominguez 5-2 Won a G2 last time beating today’s favorite and I just like how this son of Zoffany has 3 improving races has won 4 of his 6 lifetime races at SA. Joel Rosario is the best closing jockey in the country. this will be my top selection
