Saturday Del Mar Spot Play- Saturday, July 11th, 2020- By Sean Alverez

Race #6
#2 Super Game – Brian Koriner always seems to heat up around the Del Mar meet. She has a solid work pattern that suggests she is ready to roll. I think we will get a fair price since Hernandez is new to the circuit but Cedillo was last year and look how well he did, he is a more than capable rider and better than a lot. With the Miller/Prat combo to the inside, I believe we will get fair value on this horse and will try to wheel her into a daily double in the 7th race.

Race #7 I believe that the pace will be contested up front and will be set up for horses who are stalking or coming from just off the pace. In a race like this, I tend to lean towards horses who are going to get 1st run on the tiring pace setters. For this reason, I am trying to beat the favorite as I feel she does her best running at an uncontested pace.#5 Maxim Rate – She ran against some good horses last year and just could not get past them. There are no Lady Prancelot, Cambier Parc, or Mucho Unusual in this field. She ran a solid race last time out and if she can improve 2nd off the layoff, she could be dangerous.
#6 Zee Drop – Phil D’Amato had her in great form last year at Del Mar and something must have gone wrong with her as she is now making her 2nd start off the layoff as well. Her last race really looked like she needed the race. I expect her to bounce back into that similar form and could even improve as well off that effort.
#8 Strike At Dawn – Here is one that is actually making her 3rd start off the layoff and I think it is interesting to note that her work tab picked up a bit going into this race. She is going to get a perfect trip and gets Prat aboard for the first time.
