Oaklawn Park Racing Analysis — Saturday, April 6, 2019, by Shawn Frank

A very modest race card at Oaklawn; I have a strong opinion late in the card to build around.  Enjoy the race day at Oaklawn and as always let’s box a few and bet them!

I always love talking horses and handicapping.  If I see anything during the race day follow me on Twitter @ BoxEmandBetEm and I’ll add up to minute info at Oaklawn Park.

Good luck and good racing!

Race 1) 2-1-3

Plenty of pace in here to set it up for Agosta who should sit a nice trip just off the speed; the rail horse will come flying late.

Race 2) 7-3-5

This race is an absolute mess and I’m not going to waste time talking about it.  Use the ALL button in the early sequences.

Race 3) 1A-1-2

Unfortunately I don’t have anything clever here as it looks like M & M racing, the uncoupled entry has this race surrounded.  Drc All Inclusive is second off the bench and merits a long look in here.

Race 4) 4-7-6

Another bottom level maiden races here; Invasor Gold takes the slight jump in class while settling on a rider switch to Ricardo.  Has tactical hoof with a nice draw towards the inside. Globus is lightly raced and drops out of the maiden special weight ranks. Is fresh and should have no excuse not to improve.  Fake Solution was claimed and intrigues as well.

Race 5) 1-7-4

Hood on, rail draw, speed get her out of the gate Ramon and wire this bunch!  Ragatagtag takes the class drop and cuts back. Ingrid is having a nice meet and should be charging late.  Maggie Pie goes turf to dirt for the Asmussen barn a 21% move.

Race 6) 7-1-5

Summer’s Indy has had zero excuses in all three of his starts at the Oaklawn meet and she’s burned money in the past, no question.  Perhaps Ricardo can get her to the wire. She should sit just off what should be a solid pace. Dancing Belle is will sit mid pack and save ground before making her run at the speed.  Awe Emma takes the class hike coming off two impressive wins at the meet. She will see enough speed to hinder here chances, thus looking at the off the pace types here.

Late Pick 4 137/1367/3/ALL

Race 7) 3-7-1

Ultimate Mo drops out of graded stakes to land here on the cut back for the Coach.  No excuse today. Cowboy Larry sends out Lady of Luxury. Price should hold as the public will see the jock and ignore.  Broke maiden is an off the turf event. Has actually caught off tracks in both starts; Headland drew the rail and moved up in her last.  Pace could be this one’s undoing though as there is a ton on paper.

Race 8) 3-1-6

Really like D’ Rapper off the jail move for Villafranco.  Hs enough tactical speed to get a nice position early while having plenty in the tank for the stretch run; we have another uncoupled entry here for the M & M stable which will hit hard.  I much prefer Bolita Boyz to his stablemate. Always a Suspect was claimed by Asmussen and fits at a nice price.

Race 9) 3-4

I really like this filly today.  This is my single in the late pick four; classy mare and loves Oaklawn.  Ran very well first out at the meet and should be much tighter today. She’s a very nice sprinter.

Race 10) 9-8-3-2

This is a spread race for me in the late pick four.  Many in here can win.
