Monmouth Park Racing Analysis — Sunday, October 13, 2019, by Neil Petrocelli

Race 1:   3 – 1 – 4

Purdey Good – takes a big drop off the layoff and comes in off a really good work.   Can go or sit the trip. Chubster first time starter from same barn, works not nearly as impressive, but not proven to be slow yet…Homer J. may just sit and pick them all up in the stretch.  Repeat of last puts him right there.

Race 2:  7 – 2 – 1

RIthm Box – has been running pretty consistently of late and may sit the outside stalking trip and get first jump.  Sweetly Maid should also be sitting close, another consistent type – gets a piece. Lights Down Low yet another check getter, may use the rail draw to sit, save ground, and go on through at the top of the stretch.  Competitive race.

Race 3:   5 – 4 – 1

Tough field of starters with lots of speed signed on.  Given draw think Bustoff gets the best trip – sits just off on the outside, gets first jump, and motors home.  Tony should be motoring home on the cutback – needs to start running early and maintain the move, Tale of Fire takes the worst of the draw given his running style.

Race 4:   1 – 8 – 2

Looks like Servis has a stacked deck – She’s So Shea D is the main speed from the rail and It’s A Lovely Day looks to be able to stalk and close.  Do What It Takes should come running for a piece.

Race 5:   7 – 9 – 1

Englehart’s stats at the meet are too good to look past.  Putting Stormy Highway on top – think he can sit D’yer Maker (the stablemate) and Jammin Jimtown and pull away late.  D’yer Maker outlasts JJ based on post, needs to handle turn for home without drifting. Jammin Jimtown drops off win for Navarro – for sale sign up?

Race 6:   7 – 6 – 5

Lemon Crush goes for 3rd straight on the dirt – last an open length win.  Like the Cibelli barn. Spotted for another win. Hopeful Angel won last, claimed, drops – connections looking for quick return?  Consistent type, always tries. What to Expect another trier, has been right there in recent starts including a second to Hopeful Angel.  Should be right there.

Race 7:   8 – 1 – 5

Ava Malone – last tips the hand.  Royally bred filly comes off the mini layoff (good, steady works showing) rolls in the lane.  All Better, genius trainer will have this one ready to go, also off a mini layoff. Tiltingwindmills – another off a quick layoff, in from Saratoga for Brown, will be bet here, but wasn’t at the Spa….

Race 8:   3 – 1 – 8

Kodiak Katie claimed out of last – actually drops – but the purse rocks and it’s worth it.  Should be tough against many she’s beaten before. Banana Anna claimed last week with this in mind.   On the board finish covers the claim price, consistently hits the board at this level, saves ground from the rail.  Nellie Mac another who has had a successful meet hitting the board in these NJ bred races. Should close for 3rd again.

Race  9: 4 – 2 – 1

Going to avoid the overbet Servis stretching out, and go with John Servis’ Fiftyshays Ofgreen who looks to continue improving.  Has run long twice – so has the fitness, may be running when others are stopping. Pert – serious owner connections. Homebred daughter of Tonalist should enjoy running long in debut.  Steady works for 25% debut trainer going long. Persisto will be winging off the works and from the rail.
