Laurel Park Racing Analysis- Saturday Mar 7th 2020- By Chris Woods

Race 1: Clm $16k F&M 6F

1st: #5 Sexyama, simply can’t play against this favorite. Has been successful in OC$25k company including a win in the two back. Has hit the board in all 5 attempts locally.

2nd: #1 Ortinola, since arriving in claiming company she’s done nothing but ran honestly and the last out was her best effort at this level yet. Distance relief today.

3rd: #2 One Odd Story, broke her maiden over this surface and has come back to beat winners since albeit at Charles Town going only 4 and a half.

Race 2: MdSpWt $40k 3 Year Old Fillies 6F

1st: #5 Tale of Perfect La, this is a great opportunity to get a Linda Rice shipper at an OK price. This Charles Fipke-bred daughter of Tale of Ekati made her debut last summer and on the comeback at Aqu in January ran evenly. Drop in class to Maryland MdSpWt and some added conditioning should do her well.

2nd: #2 Amanite, this is the reason the Rice shipper is 5-2; this regally bred daughter of Tapit out of an Indian Charlie mare is trained by Graham Motion and gets Trevor McCarthy riding. Motion is not a trainer that has his horses ready to win at first asking and the breezes, although numerous, don’t inspire great confidence.

3rd: #4 Union Annie, name gives away the sire, this daughter of Union Rags has been breezing at Fair Hill and gets Cintron teamed up with Trombetta.

Race 3: Clm $12.5k F&M 7F

1st: #2 Hashtag Selfie, Claudio Gonzalez a monster first off the claim returning positive ROI. This one is the clear speed and took a big lead last out going a mile an faded late. Distance relief today should get it done.

2nd: #5 Call Me Jelly Roll, consistently in the 60s Beyers and shows gate speed. Dropping in class today.

3rd: #6 Annika Gold, back class last fall at Parx when she nearly won an allowance worth $100k? She earned a 77 Beyer that day. First start for Tim Kreiser who is hitting 31% off the claim.

Race 4: Clm $12.5k 7F

1st: #5 Lion Lord, no way I can pick against this son of Bernardini who has won 4 in a row, 3 of which were local. Last out he beat 8 allowance types at Charles Town and has registered Beyers in the 70s and even the 80s. Likely will be a multi-way shake for the claiming rights to this one, makes you wonder why he’s up for sale for only $12.5k.

2nd: #1 La Maquina Gris, really tempted to take this one on top. I’m questioning why the 5 is in for this low of a tag and this one just got claimed and gelded by Claudio Gonzalez earning some solid Beyers recently. Will be forward, a lot to like at the ML price.

3rd: #2 JackStraight, Dick Sillaman claimed this one for $8k last out out of a winning performance in which he earned a 79 Beyer and gets McCarthy today. Another one to be claimed.

Race 5: Clm $5k 1M

1st: #5 Rumson Rally, probably needs some speed to target in this one and there isn’t much but perhaps some to his inside. Last out made up 18 lengths to win by 3 going this distance. That’s a serious move.

2nd: #6 Last Chukker, lightly raced, second chance at bottom level after a solid event.

3rd: #3 Pep Talking, would try to get the lead with the blinkers on with this one.

Race 6: Alw $42k F&M 7F

1st: #5 Bird Traffic, there’s a lot of speed in this race and this one has shown an ability to make a late charge when they straighten away. She won in OC$25k company in the three back and in the two back made up 7 lengths or so to narrowly miss in open allowance company. Speed to her inside and outside, like this one to get up late.

2nd: #2 Little Miss Raelyn, likely the highest quality of the early speed, and should last longest.

3rd: #6 Mary’s Jewel, member of aforementioned speed, this one is definitely getting better.

Race 7: Clm $5k 1M

1st: #6 Top Hat Warrior, newly gelded for Kieron Magee, recent quality.

2nd: #2 Battle Ready, usually forwardly placed, should be around late.

3rd: #5 Finbar, intrigued that Trevor McCarthy is getting on this one who’s recent form isn’t all that solid. Also like that this is his 6th race of 2020 already.

Race 8: Alw $42k 3 Year Old Fillies 6F

1st: #7 Combat Queen, just barely missed at this conidition and distance last out. Trombetta/Pimentel/Country Life Farm heavy weight connections and she’s still getting better.

2nd: #4 Pretty Edgy, could it be a 2 win day for Dick Sillaman? Improving filly working well.

3rd: #2 It’s So Easy, Daniel Velazquez has solid horses and this one gets away from Parx for the first time, may be what she needs.

Race 9: MdClm $10k F&M 5 & ½F

1st: #1 Khalos Vision, second chance at this lowest maiden level for Dale Capuano. Gets Sheldon Russell.

2nd: #3 Fancy Girl, showed a lot of improvement last out against 8 others leading the way until late going longer.

3rd: #6 Broadway Trouper, got 2nd last out at this level.
