Gulfstream Park Racing Analysis — Sunday, December 9, 2018, by Rob Harding

Race 1:

#7 Love Sick Kitten 4-1 ML

#10 Wicked Trick 8-1 ML

#4 First Warrior 10-1 ML

#7 Love Sick Kitten has had his chances, but returns the scene of his best two efforts last winter at Gulfstream Park, and the race flow greatly benefits this ones style with a ton of early speed signed on.

DIRT: 6-11-3

Race 2:

#8 Sol Dat Sugar 4-1 ML

#5 R Lucky Dice 6-5 ML

#1 Ledecky 3-1 ML

There is absolutely no other speed in this sprint, which is a definite rarity. #8 Sol Dat Sugar should walk to the lead and gets back to the Gulfstream Park dirt where is goes 6 for 8 ITM off two weak efforts cross town at GPW.

Race 3:

#5 Moon Eyes 6-1 ML

#6 Miss Harry 2-1 ML

#3 Miss Marcela 3-1 ML

I will default to the first time starter #5 Moon Eyes for Delgado and JOrtiz, as trainer does ok with these types and horse has some decent win early pedigree in a race that lacks much of any talent.

Race 4:

#3 Peach of a Gal 4-1 ML

#1 Notapradaprice 7-2 ML

#10 Panzacola 20-1 ML

#3 Peach of a Gal loves the distance (3 for 5 lifetime) and the last effort can be thrown as it was on the polytrack at Woodbine. Either effort this summer at Laurel in May or Delaware in June will win this. Note nice 5f turf workout 10 days ago.

DIRT: 8-6-1

Race 5:

#7 Olivias Dream 8-1 ML

#8 Southern Toddy 4-1 ML

#5 All About Hay 3-1 ML

#7 Olivias Dream is an interesting horse to consider in here. This horse has really done nothing on the track in the afternoons, 5 losses by a combined 72 lengths. As this one has made its way down the class ladder, this one has been under 3-1 on four of those five occasions. She will have to beat the De La Cerda firster, but if that horse has nothing, this one has just a good of a chance as anyone.

Race 6:

#4 Dizzy Gillespie 3-1 ML

#2 Powerline 20-1 ML

#8 Sanfilipo 8-1 ML

#4 Dizzy Gillespie’s last time against open 6250 claimers resulted in a 10 ¼ lengths win last April. This one has consistently been facing better and the effort in August against optional 10 claimers that resulted in a 2nd place finish is plenty good to win this one.

Race 7:

#4 Bay Bridge 7-2 ML

#2 Sinatra 4-1 ML

#7 At the Ready 15-1 ML

It’s a Navarro exacta for me in the 7th. #4 Bay Bridge has been competitive in a protected starter allowances over the course of the last 6 months, but steps back out to open claimers and fits very well at the level for a new barn that does very well with new acquisitions.

DIRT: 5-3-7

Race 8:

#4 Admiral Lynch 12-1 ML

#2 Sea Shark 4-1 ML

#5 Tapizars Secret 1-1 ML

#4 Admiral Lynch was bet down to favoritism for Navarro in the debut at Penn National, while stumbling at the start and never being a factor. Barn hits at a 33% clip with their 2nd time players and should break more sharply in the 2nd effort. A similar horse with this profile won for Navarro going away last Sunday for the same trainer at 9-5.

Race 9:

#10 Thanks Mom 7-2 ML

#5 Oscura 15-1 ML

#7 Specialcynsdration 15-1 ML

#2 Nothins Free 12-1 ML (purely for the fact that Irad Ortiz is getting on a Monica McGoey horse)

#10 Thanks Mom ships in from the mid-Atlantic for a barn who does quite well. In a race without a true standout favorite on paper, this one looks like a good chance on the barn switch and the races over the summer at Delaware. Would recommend spreading here if you are playing the late p4.

DIRT: 9-2-4

Race 10:

#8 Rulership 12-1 ML

#9 Cause for Pardon 15-1 ML

#13 Tropical Cognac 8-1 ML /#1 Colin A Winner 8-1 ML** (would recommend using both these underneath or in late p3, p4 if Tropical Cognac draws in)

#8 Rulership relished the drop in class, dictated a relatively quick pace for the level and held on to be beaten 2nd by 3 lengths. The improvement this one showed on the drop is encouraging and a similar effort should be expected against these types.

DIRT: 2-3-1
