Golden Gate Fields Racing Analysis — Friday, January 24, 2020, by Rob Tuck

Race 3 is leg 4 of the Stronach 5

Race 1 – 5.5F Maiden CLM 8000

#1 Golden Goddess (9/5) cuts back from 2 turns and makes a drop in class from maiden 20,000, should show speed with the inside post position. #2 Patsy Cline (2/1) has been claimed in 2 of the last 3 races. Silvio Amador rides and could be up close. #3 Tiz The Standard (4/1) should sit a good trip behind the favorites. Has shown a good closing kick and if a speed duel ensues watch late.

1-2-3

Race 2 – 5.5F CLM 16000

#2 Amber Louise (7/2) had a very good 2019 with 8 wins in 14 starts including 6 wins in 8 starts since Isidro Tamayo made the claim. Had a rough trip down the stretch last out, Juan Hernandez on board today. #3 Lucky Antares (5/2) finished a solid 2nd at this level last out. Has closed well and expect to be coming late, Frank Alvarado stays aboard. #5 Bako Sweets (9/5) comes in on the class drop running in southern California the last few starts. Only ran twice last year but already the second start of 2020. Good early speed.

2-3-5

Race 3 – 1 Mile CLM 12500

#10 Charlie’s Bell (4/1) ran 2nd to Text Don’t Call last out. Has a good closing run but will need to overcome the outside post going 2 turns. Expect to be rolling late. #2 Text Don’t Call (2/1) won wire to wire with soft fractions at this level last out for trainer Jonathan Wong. May not get the easy fractions again. #4 Just Classy (7/2) has 2 wins in 6 starts. Has good numbers and is dropping from optional claiming.

10-2-4

Race 4 – 5.5F ALW 50000

#2 Old School Charmer (7/5) has been a beaten favorite the last 3 tries and is always on the lead. Broke a little slow and was rushed up last out, but could get away from these with a clean break and cutting back from 6F to 5.5F. #5 Opera Ghost, #4 War Games and #3 Praise Loudly all like to be close to the front so it could get interesting. If there is pace pressure or the favorite tires late look for #1 Away He Goes (10/1) to be running late under Francisco Monroy. Like at a price.

1-2-3

Race 5 – 5.5F MC 8000

#7 Emma’s a Beast (9/5) and Juan Hernandez come off a 2nd place finish in the career debut. Should sit a good trip from the outside. #6 Oh What a Ride (5/2) was third behind the favorite in the debut making a good late run. #2 Spicy Perfection (3/1) for trainer Jonathan Wong had a terrible trip and can only get better with a clean break. Room for improvement 2nd time out for all 3.

7-2-6

Race 6 – 6F Alw 50000

#4 Spanish Magic (7/2) may have needed the last race, second start off the lay-off today. Was an impressive maiden winner back in May and comes in with a bullet work. Expect this one to be ready with Julian Couton up. #1 Chieftain’s Lady (5/2) had an impressive debut flashing good speed in September. Silvio Amador stays on and could fire fresh off the layoff. #6 Starza (4/1) ran a good 2nd last out behind a next out winner, might get a perfect set up if there is a pace duel. Has been in the money 10/15.

4-6-1

Race 7 – 6F CLM 40000

#1 Sequentially (9/5) loves the tapeta (In the money 12/14 including 6 wins). Could get a good set up today under Frank Alvarado. #3 Midnight Ming (2/1) defeated Sequentially last out by half a length after losing by a nose two back. Will be in the mix late. #5 Pure Comedy (3/1) has been in the money 5 of the last 6 but without a win. Juan Hernandez should have this one well positioned.

1-5-3

Race 8 – 5.5F CLM 4000

Tough race in the nightcap. Not a lot of these have been in good form as of late. #2 Far West (4/1) has to be looked at based on the connections with trainer Blaine Wright and rider Juan Hernandez. #4 Baby You Got It (6/1) closed well last out for a 3rd place finish and has the services of Silvio Amador. #7 Changing Image (5/2) was in the money 3 straight starts until weakening last out. Should be around late.

4-2-7
