Aqueduct Racing Analysis — Sunday, November 10, 2019, by Ivan Lopez

Another good card awaits for us Sunday at Aqueduct, with sizable fields and two stakes in agenda. Last week’s results were:

10-5-0-0

Bet: $20.00

Collected: $27.00 (+35% ROI)

Will try to keep the good streak going. Lets go to the quick comments:

1st race: 6 Furlongs. (Outer Turf) Mdn 70k Purse $70,000 OUTER TURF (UP TO $12,180 NYSBFOA) FOR MAIDENS, TWO YEARS OLD.

9-2-5

A full field of two year old open the card today, and in the turf, when in doubt, bet Chad Brown. And that’s what we are doing, putting Complex System (9) as our top pick. Horses with experience haven’t show that much, so we will rely on this horse, who has the typical Chad Brown’s worktab for his debut and bought at 5) times his stud’s fee. Witherspoon (2) is presented by Hall of Famer Bill Mott and gets a good rail draw for his first race. Hard to be Humble (5) has the Joel Rosario and Christophe Clement duo, who lightened up the board yesterday with a first time starter. At 10-1, looks like a juicy proposition for an upset.

2nd race: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) ™Clm 30000n2L Purse $38,000 (UP TO $6,612 NYSBFOA) FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD

5-7-9

Pecatonica (5) was my top pick in her last start, and she encountered less than firm ground that wasn’t of her liking. Now she should get a firm surface, and Junior Alvarado replaces Eric Cancel for new trainer Thomas Bush. I will give her another chance. Augusta Moon (7) is the filly to beat by her last two races. She hasn’t traveled the eight and a half furlongs in a long time, but in this group, she should be considered one of the favorites. Hit a Provisional (9) drops for a tag for the fist time in more than a year, and that extra half a furlong can make a big difference for her. Jose Ortiz returns to her saddle, she already ran well with him in the irons.

3rd race: 1 Mile. Mdn 70k Purse $70,000 (UP TO $12,180 NYSBFOA) FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD.

4-1-7

Kid Bourbon (4) maybe went a lil too fast in his last race, prompting Mark Hennig to perform a jockey change. Now Manny Franco will have the assignment, and if he can rate effectively, as in his debut, he will be the horse to beat. Spice Road (1) is the fastest of this group and should have a pretty easy lead from the start, and John Velazquez will be riding for the second time after stumbling at the break in his most recent. Road Home (7) last raced in February against Shancelot, one of the best sprinters in the country. The eight month plus hiatus is a factor not in his favor, but I think this is a horse that will go fine at a route trip.

4th race: 6½ Furlongs. ‘Clm 25000 Purse $46,000 FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD FOALED IN NEW YORK STATE

9-1-10

Joe’s Smokin Gun (9) can take full advantage of a pace that I think will be very swift on that first flight. He is 2 for 3 at the Big A, another factor to take into consideration. The entry of Kantarmaci (1) compliment there selves nicely, with Mo Diddley being part of the speedsters and Playthatfunnymusic coming from just off the pace. Both have reasonable chances to score here. Sudden Surprise (10) drops from the allowance ranks, being this group the lightest he has faced in quite a while. Hasn’t win in more than a year, but circumstances can be on his favor today.

5th race: 6 Furlongs. (Outer Turf) ‘Alw 66000n1x Purse $66,000 OUTER TURF FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD

4-2-6

Elenzee (4) comes from running the best race of his life. It is true this was at the 35,000 level, but it was an unrestricted claiming trace, who compares favorably with this local bred allowance race. Joel Rosario gets the call after Jose Ortiz prefers Crack Shot (2) , which is my second choice. He should be looking for the lead from the bell from that number 2 post, and Ortiz loves to ride these speed balls. He is master at rationing up the speed of them. Valmont (6)  is the horse on the improving side, and that last race makes us think there is more in the tank, and that further improvement is definitely possible.

6th race: 6½ Furlongs. ™‘Mdn 62k Purse $62,000 FOR MAIDENS, FILLIES TWO YEARS OLD FOALED IN NEW YORK STATE

6-9-4

Myawaya (6) no doubt is the horse to beat in here. Both the filly that beat her and the one that was behind her in his last race came back to win after, and her works indicate she is ready to break through, with Johnny V. doing the honors for his main client Todd Pletcher. Silver Bank (9) ran evenly in her debut, giving the impression she will like to have more ground to work with, but against these fillies, she needs to be considered one of the top choices. Funfetti (4) showed very nice early zip in her debut back in June. Is she can have an easy enough lead, she can be long gone. Watch out!

7th race: 1 Mile. Alw 75000n1x Purse $75,000 (UP TO $13,050 NYSBFOA) FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD

1-7-4

Airtouch (1) may have bounced a lil bit after his win in his come back race, this after being more than two years in the shelf. Now he should be fitter for this compromise and the mile trip should suit him to a tee. Johnny V. doesn’t lose him . Network Effect (7) is a very talented runner that has been out for more than ten months. Chad Brown will have him ready to score right off the bench and will be coming from mid pack with his run. I Love Jaxson (4) has being doing much better since being trained by Linda Rice. He will need to step up an additional notch to win, but is maybe the speediest of this bunch. Cant let him go into an easy lead, becomes very dangerous if allowed to do so.

8th race: 7 Furlongs. ™NYStlnSrsB150K New York Stallion Series S. Purse $150,000 FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD

9-10-5

The most difficult race to handicap in all the card. I will go with Fair Regis (9), who can be now ridden more patiently, will all the early foot signed in. Irad Ortiz will be coming with his run from the garden spot and will be present late in the stretch. Our Super Nova (10) comes from running the best race of her life against the very good filly Ratjakowski. His best races have been at Belmont, but has been doing much better with Charlton Baker as her trainer, so lest see if she can pull it off. My Roxy Girl (5) is as hinest as the y come and her record of 16-5-5-2 at Aqueduct makes her a very logical choice, amongst much others. Be safe and spread in this race.

9th race: 6 Furlongs. (Outer Turf) ™StwrdMnrB100K Stewart Manor S. Purse $100,000 OUTER TURF FOR FILLIES TWO YEARS OLD.

5-10-6

Impressive first run by Enola Gay (5) at Kentucky Downs earned her the top billing in this race. She inhaled the field with ease and Shug Mc Gaughey is better second=d time around. Has been given ample time to recover and will be flying late. Miss J Mc Kay (10) is a Laurel shipper that has come in front in her three races so far, one of them being disqualified, bit showing her talent in the process. Jockey Mc Carthy flies in from Maryland to ride and needs a hot pace in front, and should get it. Karak (6) had some problems at the beginning of her most recent, but the talent is there and Irad is taking no prisoners in these last two months of the season.

10th race: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) MC 40000 Purse $41,000 (UP TO $7,134 NYSBFOA) FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD.

2-8-9Monkeyseemonkeydo (2) tries the route distance after jst missing in his last, in this same level. He has enough speed to be in a great position from the start and Jose Ortiz repeats on him. Pallas Athens (8) is running for a tag for the first time and takes a cutback in distance, after being running in trips much longer than this one. Saez will try to put him into a stalking position and his chances are good. Looking at Roses (9) drops to this 40,00 claimer after flunking for almost double of that. He will sport blinkers for the first time and maybe he can be at the lead from the start and wire this field. Can’t be surprised if that happens.
