Aqueduct Racing Analysis- Sunday 8th 2020- By Ivan Lopez

Nine races on this Sunday, with the Heavenly Prize being the feature, for fillies and mares at a mile.

  1. 3-2-1 – Tonal Vision ran evenly at seven panels, an indication that he is relishing more ground to work with. He gets an additional furlongs today and Davis and Casse have been hot together. Halo City will be the top choice of his three consecutive second place finishes at this same level. He is maybe the quickest in here and will be part of that first flight. Dare to Try was gobbling up the ground in his debut. Now steps to a mile and with some improvement, he can get up in time late.
  2. 6-5-8 – Nowitna River receives a considerable jockey upgrade and the seven furlongs should be right up her alley. Malibu Mischief will wear blinkers today and goes second time for trainer Michael Miceli, who hits at 32% doing so. Friend of Liberty keeps dropping in class and not performing to expectations. This is the easiest group she has faced, lets see how she fares.
  3. 4-5-3 – Abounding Joy goes second time out for trainer Bill Mott, and we saw an improved effort in her most recent against the consistent Saguaro Row. She should be forwardly placed from the gitgo. Newly Minted is extremely steady on her performance and if she can have an easy lead, she can wire this field. No Payne No Gayne completes the selection, she is not that far away from the best in here, with a bit of improvement , she can pull the upset.
  4. 12-5-11 – Vitanza has the best figures in this low quality bunch, but spread across in all exotics, as this is a slow group, and any improvements can make a difference.
  5. 1-9-3 – Its a Chance won her last and has the recency advantage over this group. Dirty Bird will be coming late in the stretch to pick up the pieces. Appletini is the quickest in this race and she has run better off late.
  6. 5-6-8 – Very slow horses in this race, which have faced each other in numerous occasions. Mr. Wonderful returns from a ten plus months break working very nicely. Cancel is having his best meet ever. Implied Volatility should be the favorite by means of his last efforts, but Papa Tom B drops from maiden claimers to this $25,000 tag, and has enough speed to be prominent at every call.
  7. 11-5-9 – Extremely difficult race to handicap. I will go with Saratoga Giro, who was practically eased last time out as the favorite and appears now for less than half of his claiming price. Jason Servis is known for doing this and he will go break even if he wins and gets claimed. Has two works in preparation. Mo Diddley drops also from $25K and in such a group, he is a contender even dough he has lost a step or two. Moneymeister won his last in great form and steps up in class, a sign of confidence. If there is a speed duel, he can pick up the pieces late.
  8. 7-3-2 – Sadie Lady is riding in the crest of the wave at the moment, with two straight wins, both of them going wire to wire. From that outside post, she most probably will hit the front again and she is a deserving top choice. Palomita goes second off the layoff for Chad Brown, she should be much fitter now. Franco stays with her after a very discreet effort last time out. Excess Capacity will be watching from a garden spot position and if a speed duel develops, she is dangerous.
  9. 7-8-5 – More bad horses in here, so anything is possible. Touch of Nirvana is making a fallout from straight maidens after not doing much in her most recent. His works have been each one better than the one before and Franco stays for the finale. Annoula is making slow progress and in this kind of bunch, this is something that we don’t see much. With more improvement, she can score. My Sweet Kat is the speediest in here, but after faltering without an excuse as a big favorite, is difficult to rely on her.
