Turfway Park Friday
So I went and saw Star Wars tonight and it has me not knowing what to think so if picks are bad its because JJ Abrams broke my brain. However if I win its solely because I am a capital G Genius. First a Movie Score: 68/100
Race 1
Clm7500N3L 1 1/16 Miles
Picks: 1A-3-2-7
1A My Kinda Kid, last out looks like he got out slow and never really had a chance but two back had a second place finish and three back he had a third at a good price. I think we get a price here with a solid chance. 3 Starlin, in the money three out of the last four and he’s hot, would definitely use. 2 Rio Bueno, another three out of four in the money runs and I believe that his sustained running style can grind it out and get up on the board.
Race 2
30K Maiden Claiming 6F
Picks: 2-5- Any FTS
This race is a bunch of first time starters and wash outs with one or two actual contenders. 8 Cyrpto, A well bred horse for Wesley Ward that lead in his first race but ended up giving way. But the horses that won and came in second are stakes placed and stakes winner respectively, the lay off is slightly concerning. 5 Celtic Mischief, hasn’t show that much but this is a crazy weak field so use him I guess and then pick some FTS and call it a day.
Race 3

Picks: 3-8-5-11
TAKING A SHOT, 3 Supreme Venture. This horse has been ordinary in his advanced age of 7 but he loves Turfway and that’s one of my favorite angles is finding a horse that has a home field advantage, big big price. 8 Cedar Creek, has been running well with back to back shows but I’m not sure this horse likes this distance so I would probably use but sparingly. 5 At Guard, needs to get his race as the last two efforts have been disappointing but if he gets his spoke he could wear down the pace and win.
Race 4
Clm 18000 1 Mile
Picks: 5-11-12
5 Lil Mateo, horse for the course loves this distance and is 4 for 6 this year and after a tough move up comes back to his level and I expect him to dominate. 10 Junket, has been running his best this year just racking up cash in the claiming ranks. He is clearly the second best horse in this race to me. 11 Adulator, I don’t know what caused this horse to drop from where it was consistently running well in the 50k claimer plus division but I would drop a claim for this horse if he looked alright. This horse, if sound, is the best most proven horse in the field.
Race 5
MSW 1 Mile
Picks:1-5-10-7
1 Big Time Delivery, He’s gotten close twice and in harder classes, also is coming off dirt where other horses are coming from a turf history. 5 It’s Vengeance, hasn’t hit the board yet but look for his front running style against lesser competition to come in handy and at least hold on for a piece. 10 Macabre has 11 starts and 6 shows, not ideal. None of his shows have been particularly close either, but this race is short on talent but someone has to win right.
Race 6
OC 50k 6f
Picks:4-1-3-8
4 Unmoored, look everyone knows if someone is hot Ill be the first to jump aboard and this horse is hot. Winner of two in a row with a class jump to boot; they a jumping slightly in class but it looks like this horse is up for the challenge with his last 4 races being in the money. 1 Mr. Manning, Speaking of hot horses this fella hasn’t finished out of the money this year! A Must use in some capacity; this horse will battle the 4 for the lead and whoever gets it might just wire the field. 8 Lombo, will be there waiting though just incase there is a melt down of pace that he can size, although he has struggled this year.
Race 7
OC 25K/N1X 6.5F
Picks: 8-2-5-3
8 Can’t Hide From Me, this horse loves this synthetic surface and has run well against similar competition. Taking a break from the stiff woodbine division and should find a soft landing spot here. 5 Qualifly, horse has been running well in what I would consider is a similar or maybe slightly lower competition but should make for a strong contender as he has hit the board 5 out of last 6. 2 Uber Kirk, top class of race and if he can put his last out behind him he will win easy.
Race 8
Maiden Claiming 7500 6.5F
Picks:3-1-8
In these terrible races I generally see things that make sense like the3 Right the Wrong winning this race as he is the classiest and well raced of the bunch. 1 Amigo Mike might be worth a look too.
