Turfway Park Racing Analysis — Thursday, January 24, 2019, by Shawn Murphy

Race 1

1-7-8

1- Looks like this cheap maiden race will go as per the morning line. Big drop for Narrows Bridge as trainer award brings this Philly back from Florida looking for a first win.

7- this horse likes to be second showing three great race is at Turfway shows up once again and will be a low price. Has taken lots of money and has been the favourite in the last three races.

8- ultra consistent three-year-old has five placings and seven races but has yet to hit the winner circle. Should put in a good race and be right there at the finish.

Race 2

2-3-7

2- you might get a price on this seven-year-old seems to love the poly. This is his second outing for a high percentage trainer and his last race was very respectable.

3- another that should be a good price drops back down to a price where he has been racing very well. Has a good Turfway record and does like the poly.

7- this 12-year-old rarely throws in a bad race his last at a slightly higher level was perfect and Drew away. Had five wins last year out of 12 races and should be fairly low odds.

Race 3

1-7-8

1- should get some value in this race as I am picking some horses that I hope can shine off poor recent efforts. Middle of nowhere drops half in value for the second race off a long way off. Second time for a competent trainer and strong rider. Seem to have a little trouble in his last race.

7- this five-year-old should be rolling in the stretch As he usually comes from behind. A good horse to use in your tri’s.

8- The logical play here has run very well at Turfway and I see no reason to continue with this trend.

Race 4

9-10-11

9- shooting for the moon in this race. There’s a lot of cheap speed and there’s only so many that will last till the end. Positive vibes has had 11 chances but should be in good position heading for home against this group.

10- this four-year-old took a considerable amount of money in her first start and didn’t have the greatest of races. I see her sitting back off the early speed and having a good kick down the lane. Definitely a value play.

11- her only two races at Turfway have been strong against weaker. I don’t see the elevation in class bothering her and I see her being raped there at the end.

Race 5

5-7-9

5- The six-year-old seems very logical as she has shown a liking for the track and a liking for the condition. Does not win often but just missed last out after a terrible start.

7- another logical choice as this four-year-old is dropping down to a class where she won two in a row and should be sitting mid pack around the far turn and kick home nicely. She has done very well since acquiring blinkers and should continue this trend this evening.

9- has raised well recently in this class and will be close to the front throughout. If no other speed challenges her she might have her own way and be seen in the winner circle.

Race 6

6-5-7

6- this ward charge failed in his last attempt at Turfway and comes down in class for this tilt. Look for a stronger showing and a better start and hope for some value at the windows.

5- came close to being my first choice after that great race on December 21. The trainer has done well so far this year and Franklin sticks with him.

7- pick this horse for his December 21 win as well his December 6 win. In his last race he bit off a little more than he could chew and his back down at a level where he can be competitive.

Race 7

3-9-10

3- taking a bit of a swing on this five-year-old, as he hasn’t raced since September but the trainer does show a high percentage for layoff horses. And with a name like Cincinnati how can he not be my pic for this race. Looking for him to be fresh and to dictate the pace.

9- Not sure how a horse can finish the 10th by 26 lengths come back out and win by a nose and then finish 9th by 20 lengths. I am hoping the drop in class does well for this five-year-old and he can put a good race together.

10- only shows a couple bad races in his last 15 this horse is ultra consistent at this level and does well at Turfway the trainer had a good year last year and I’m hoping the outside post position does not hinder his effort this evening.

Race 8

3-9-7

3- this for-year-old colt will likely be the favourite office last two races. Did very well last outing with his new trainer looking for similar this evening.

9- pray for kitten has had three good races it Turfway recently but likes to come third so why not Hope that he progresses and come second. Low percentage trainer is looking for the first win of the meet.

7- The drop-down and class should be a relief for this five-year-old and should definitely get good value with the apprentice rider. Look for him to get on the board at a good price.

Good luck with all your pics may they be profitable and don’t be afraid to mix up the top three in both daily doubles and pick three wagers.
