Turfway Park Racing Analysis — Thursday, December 13, 2018, by Shawn Murphy

Race 1

7-6-1

Taking some horses with a price in the first race , there seems to be a lot of early speed. Looking for a horse that can come from just off the pace. Kantastic has some good angles, first off the claim, won easily when dropped to the bottom class and looks to double up. My Dark Secret also off the claim, coming in from Churchill. Her running style fits well in this race. The entry looks solid but at a reduced price.

Race 2

5-4-6

Brother Cesare comes in off of muddy race at Indiana, drops down for this effort and looking for a change of pace has done very well on poly. He’s looking to do the same tonight. National Pride took to the poly last time with a comfortable score as the favorite. Should be running late. Kits Gold is second on the layoff and back to a distance he should appreciate.

Race 3

11-7-8

Always Believe is an interesting pick for this race. She comes from Indiana via Del Mar for high percentage trainer Lauer. I think the race shapes up well for her, and should get a great price. Make it Maria is coming off a lay-off and has shown strength from this angle. Should be traveling well in the lane. Picante Caliente is second off a layoff and should be in a good spot for the whole trip.

Race 4

7-4-1

Ambidextrous Alex will be a low price but looks too good to pass up. The drop-down to return, the poly and a strong trainer all lead to a winning effort. Tetradrachm, also coming off a layoff, has strong Turfway numbers and should be running on end. Beach Hut ran very well here in November and will take money as a result.

Race 5

6-7-9

Secret Trick looks like a strong play based on her preference for the distance, trainer strength at the moment and the jockeys fast start here. In a flurry drops for this tilt and should appreciate the chance to run on poly.  Blame the Dream will press the early speed and should be able to stay close to the end. Has been running well lately.

Race 6

1-6-9

Aye Skipper is a bit of a hunch play here if you look back to his race on June 3rd you will notice a very strong effort with similar types. His last three races look poor on form but they were at a much higher level than today. This will be a nice play at 5 to 1 or higher. Mansoor can definitely get the distance and is one for one and a mile and a quarter. He has raced well on the last two, and both trainer and jockey show some strong numbers. Man of Blues will probably take most of the action.

Race 7

1-5-8

Hawaiian Noises looks like a short price winner tonight. Trainer Ward has done well with these types and looking to command a turf way to collect the purse. Shows a great last race at Keeneland and has worked well for this shorter lay off. Yodel E A. Who and Echo Alpha Six Will pick up pieces.

Race 8

4-5-6

I hate to do it but I have to have a Wesley Ward late double. Who knows, it might pay $20. This European import by exchange rate sold for a big price of the Keeneland September sale. The workouts have been amazing leading up to this lower level maiden, she shouldn’t have too much trouble with this group. Toast the Bulldogs has a great work out tab coming into this race for high percentage owners and trainer. Wolfe County Miss wraps up the finale and as a first timer by English channel should run well at this distance.

Good luck and giddy up!
