Turfway Park Analysis- Wednesday 18, 2019- By Spencer Luginbuhl

Race 1

11-10

#11 Madam Novetzke: This Daughter of Langfuhr is trained by one of the best Synth trainers in Wesley Ward 34% on the poly and the sire hits at a 22% clip as well. Showed good speed last time out for 12.5K and now takes a small drop.

#10 Dear John Letter: Another one who showed they can stay on even with fast paces upfront. Trainer Mike maker is ok at 16% second time out and with normal Improvement should run in the mid ’40s which is good enough to win this race

Race 2

9-2-4-10

#9 Thorpe d’Oro: This Gelding out of good Sire Medaglia d’Oro thought looked interesting and as I dived deeper into his pedigree he is a full brother to millionaire Plum Pretty. He does love to run second and this is more of a price play for me then anything as there are some holes in the favorite. He’s been running for 10K all year this is a good time to take a class dropper with some nice back pedigree for the surface.

#2 Stay in Yo Lane: this 4-1 M.L. Favorite has fantastic connections, enough speed to set up his closing kick and comes in off a win so why isn’t he a top pick for me. That last win albeit on dirt isn’t fast enough on figs. He’s been in decline form-wise to be even though he is hitting the board and this has happened since the lastest barn change. Now he has a jump in class and a pretty big field on a surface he has yet to even hit the board in two starts at.

#4 Shorely: This is my board hitter for this race, great Sire for synthetic in First samurai 23%. I’m not a fan of the claim a horse and drop so if this one runs well enough i will make sure to follow this trainer closer in claiming races. also, the fact that they paid over 200K for a younger sire who only adds for 15K adds to the intrigue.

Race 3

6-1-10

#6 Twelve Monarchs: 20% sire Gio Ponti with synthetic routers sure surprised me and this one had a good race last year under Wesley Ward’s barn that I think stands up well I like the price and also like he has been facing stringer MSW company.

#1 Barton Hall: Surface switch and blinks on for this daughter of Noble Mission, Trainer David Rider 23% on the year also takes over for this race. With all the moves it seems like they are just trying to see what sticks This trainer and jockey combo have come up with some bombs this year.

Race 4

12-2-5

#12Cantaloupe Island: I dont know how good Brad Cox is on the Poly but he has not missed the board with 3 runners so far so I’m guessing the runners he brings are live. This 3 year old by Ghostzapper who is a 20% plus Sire on the Poly is always good to see also the Damsire had a win on this surface which adds to the appeal. Big improvement second time out albeit on turf shows maybe this runner will be good off the drop and ship from Indiana.

#2 Turkicanus Freak: Had an ok debut for the level with the usual second-time improvement he fits enough on figs. Trainer William Gowan does well with his synthetic runners although of the 5 I found on Formulator 4 were in claimers only one a maiden still not to bad a price

Race 5

7-6-8

Race 6

8-4-1

Race 7

5-4-2

#5 Our Snowflake: Just the one race on Synth but she ran a nice Beyer (70). The price of 7/2 on the morning line is ok I don’t like the many underneath finishes but in really trying to learn synthetic races for the first time I will admit it is hard when many haven’t seemed to race on the surface yet.

#4 Jeannie’s Beepbeep: Looked nice on debut but something went wrong that day and now comes back a year later if she can transfer the sloppy form she will be a tough one to handle. Trainer Anthony Granitz is only 4% on 25 starts for his synthetic runners in the last two years.

Race 8
