Race 1
(1) Charming Verse – The opener looks like a well matched field, this mare has been competitive at this level and distance and appears to have caught a little easier group today.
(5) California Cotton – Another consistent type runner at this level but only 3 victories in 29 tries, 2 of those wins have been at Tampa though. Should be setting in a stalking position with Charming Verse and hope the speed comes back to them a little.
(3) Clouded Appeal – Should be part of the pace coming out of a couple of sprints and now stretching out, should have some other company up front though.
Race 2
(2) Alfred The Great – The ML favorite has a speed figure advantage over the field but will be first try on dirt and will be a short price, Alfred The Great was off a tad slow in debut, then a little slow into stride, was wide thru turn. The second try on turf he flashed a little more speed going longer, now he gets back to what probably will end up being his best surface and gets another drop in class and cutback to 7f.
(1) Maxximum Energy – Will be a huge price but there are enough changes here to give this one a shot to hit the board. Gets new trainer, jockey and surface switch. Only try on fast dirt was the debut where he was bumped at the start and raced 5 wide thru turn, the race in the slop was bad but then ran in a couple of fast paced turf races.
(4) Fountainstreetkid – Has been a little bit of a plodder so far, might pass a few down the lane to get a piece.
Race 3
(7) Pictures of You – Bennett is 19% first off the claim, ran well in her first try on the dirt in the last, is 1/1 at this distance.
(4) Prospective Belle – Gets the switch to a higher percentage jockey, and should prefer the little added distance today.
(6) Sunset Empire – Coming off back to back wins and should be right in the mix in what looks to be a well matched competitive race for several in here.
Race 4
(4) Miss Rickles – She has ran well off of breaks before and looks to be training well, likes to win races with 8 total wins. Has ran well in 2 tries here. Barn does good work with horses coming off short layoffs.
(5) Well Composed – Has ran well Tampa with a win at this distance, not a lot of pace in here so might find herself on the lead with the cutback.
(6) Flashy Patch – Improved with 2nd try on dirt, now moves to N2y level. Has been a very consistent runner, although most of those were on synthetic.
Race 5
(8) Burning Man – ½ to 323k earner Lady Digby, Delacour is 20% with first time starters. Nice work here on the 15th.
(10) Umbrage – Clement is having a big meet, winning at 29%, takes the drop into claiming ranks and picks up Camacho.
(7) Shopenhare – Rough trip in the last but a little improvement from the debut race should put him in the mix at a big price.
Race 6
(4) Back Page – They gave him a try on turf last time that didn’t work out very well, now back to dirt and will try to stretch his speed out to 7f.
(2) Meantime – Training well for return, Miller does well with horses coming off layoffs. Was a top 3 year old before it looks like some injuries took its toll.
(9) Why God – Lozano makes debut as trainer, this closer will hope for some pace up front.
Race 7
(2) Tanda’s Joy – Never really a good thing to lose ground in a race but seems even more important sometimes on this Tampa turf course, Tanda should get a nice inside trip from this post, several in here with some speed should ensure a decent pace to close into.
(4) Radiant Beauty – High purchase price filly has been close since switching to Delacour, beaten favorite in last 3, will be another short price today.
(5) Postino’s Idol – A consistent runner at this level, just rarely finds the winners circle.
Race 8
(7) Konza Kandy – Won easily against a few in here going 5 ½, should be just off the lead in here and has shown good ability to finish well.
(6) Stage Direction – Was a little overmatched or didn’t like the slop in the last stakes race, training well and should prefer the little extra distance today.
(8) Scowling Ridge – Finished 2nd to Konza in the last, most experience filly with this being her 10th race.
Race 9
(7) Japonski – Has ran well since coming to Tampa, one of the few in here with any early lick, hasn’t missed the board on this turf.
(6) Salsa Jack – Went off at less than 3-1 in past 2 races, should be much better price today and fits well with these.
(1) Real Estate Mogul – 2nd off of a 7 month layoff, has been in the exact more than half his races, a little improvement from the return race should give him a chance at a big price.
Race 10
(6) Luna Queen – Another try at this same level, has a decent amount of speed, not the best of trips last time out, steadied and raced wide thru turn
(9) Exotic Gold – Will take a shot at stretching out some of that speed she has shown going shorter, just hasn’t been able to finish races to the finish line.
(8) Emerson’s Queen – Dueled on a pretty hot pace in the last, maybe can sit just off some of the speed this time
