Stakes Preview: G3 Troy, G3 Waya, by Andrew Rdesinski

  1. Mrs. Sippy- Rosario/ Motion
    1. Mrs. Sippy hasn’t run since Breeders Cup day but Motion should be good here off the layoff as usual. Rosario and Clement have been nothing but winners at Saratoga this meet and meet up here again on the favorite. The distance is a unique one as she is a closer, but I think the distance actually hits her right between the eyes.
  2. Beau Belle- Franco/ Albertrani
    1. Beau Belle is a horse I am not a fan of here at all. Once again it’s Franco on the turf and the distance is very long and the horse seems to not be a fan of it. She is definitely outclassed here and I will be looking elsewhere as she seems to be a one paced mare.
  3. Quiet Dignity- Gaffalione/ Maker
    1. Maker gets Quiet Dignity in his barn today and gets an equipment change today with blinkers on. She seems to be unfocused in the midst of battle in the races and maybe Maker has found out what she needed. She will be closing and the distance gives her a chance to put it all together. Gaffalione is better on turf in my opinion and should be able to give her the trip she needs. Will be using her underneath but in horizontals I will pass.
  4. My Sister Nat (FR)- Ortiz/ Brown
    1. My Sister Nat could be sitting on a big effort here. She is winless in America though. She is a one run closer and Jose Ortiz has been stellar this year at Saratoga as well. Chad Brown has been cold lately so maybe she will hang again but the added distance is the make or break angle for her today. Must use on all tickets.
  5. Olympic Games (FR)- Ortiz Jr./ Clement
    1. Olympic Games is probably the best horse here when it comes to current form. Clement sends out another one here and has been lights out at Saratoga. Irad is a great turf jockey and gets the mount here again. She can get the distance but it will be tough nonetheless. The class is an issue but she could be putting it all together at the right time.
  6. MTO
  7. Fools Gold- Castellano/ Brown
    1. Fools Gold will be the pace here. Fools Gold is the defending champ here and she seems to be good enough to win two in a row. She could go gate to wire breaking from the outside post in a 6 horse field. She also could be the rabbit for My Sister Nat. This all comes down to Javier and whether or not he wants to ride the race needed to be ridden in order to win here. Either way the possibility of her going gate to wire at ease here is why she is my top pick.

The Troy

  1. Imprimis- Ortiz/ Orseno
    1. Imprimis is by far the class of the field. He hasn’t seen the track since Breeders Cup 2019, so he might be a little rusty. His best year was in 2018 but has been good since just not as good. Orseno isn’t great off of this type of layoff either. I think the off the pace trip is ideal here and Jose has given this horse a good trip back in 2018 at Monmouth so I expect he knows what he is doing. I just don’t like the odds here on a horse who hasn’t raced since November and for a trainer who is 14% off the race.
  2. American Sailor- Gaffalione/ Potts
    1. American Sailor should be the speed of the speed early on because Shekky Shebaz and Pure Sensation don’t seem to have the same early kick as before, but I think Pure Sensation should be able to be close enough. Gaffalione isn’t as trustworthy as most riders on the lead but he can be aggressive when needed. He will be stepping up in class but I can trust Wayne Potts to do okay with that move up in class. He is one of my top choices today.
  3. Lonhtwist- Velazquez/ O’Brien
    1. I am not a fan of Lonhtwist today at all. This horse just does not fit to me here and the Jaipur race showed that. This is obviously just the connections taking a stab at a check and a possible run in the money. Velazquez is this horse’s only hope.
  4. Shekky Shebaz- Ortiz Jr./ Clement
    1. Shekky Shebaz is a lot of people’s choice here from what I am hearing. He however, isn’t the same horse he was with Jason Servis. This was obviously going to happen as he doesn’t have the good stuff anymore that Servis had. Clement however has been on fire this meet at Saratoga so this horse could be sneaky here. If he can get the pace or sit 2nd I can see him possibly getting up in the shadows of the wire.
  5. Pure Sensation- Carmouche/ Clement
    1. Pure Sensation is a horse that has a special place in my heart. The 3 time consecutive Turf Monster winner at Parx is back today at Saratoga where he ran 3rd in this race. Kendrick returns here who was this horse’s main jockey for a little bit back in the day. I think he can run huge today but he also seems to not be the same horse as his earlier years. Using on all tickets.
  6. Pulsate- Franco/ Ribaudo
    1. Pulsate is an interesting horse here but is definitely outclassed. Franco isn’t the best turf jockey but should be okay on this one. I think Pulsate should want longer so this sprint distance is not key. Will be the wildcard horse of the field at a price to me so if you like an angle with this one then I suggest playing it.
  7. Chewing Gum- Rosario/ Mott
    1. Chewing Gum is another outside horse with an outside chance but his odds will be slightly lower than the 6. He does indeed like longer in distance but he is coming into this race in good form. Rosario is riding better than most at Saratoga and Mott is always a respectable trainer in these spots. I think Rosario will be flying late but the distance is most likely going to be too short. Will be using in horizontals and underneath as Rosario might be able to time the perfect closing trip with the early speed locked up here.
