Stakes Preview: G3 Autumn Miss Stakes, by Andrew Rdesinski

Autumn Miss

  1. Mind Out- Van Dyke/ Callaghan
    1. Mind Out stretches back out to a flat mile in which I think she benefits at. Drayden picks up the mount as Hernandez and Prat chose others in this field. Usually that is not a good sign but to me I think it was just a business decision and nothing personal. Drayden can ride the turf pretty well and usually hustles for the bigger races a tad more than normal. She should be closing late and the extra distance should be ideal.
  2. Quiet Secretary- Espinoza/ Kruljac
    1. Quiet Secretary is in over her head here. She had to drop in for a tag in order to break her maiden and then she couldn’t beat Allowance company last time out. I think the distance is fine and that she is a good horse but I think this field is way too tough and she shouldn’t have much of a chance.
  3. Nasty- Gonzalez/ Batlas
    1. Nasty is a former Brad Cox horse in the Richard Batlas barn now. She has yet to run under Batlas which has been since around the end of August or beginning of September. She wasn’t anything special over in Indiana so I don’t understand how she would be much better in California. Batlas is only 10% first time out as the new trainer which isn’t all that appealing. I will be looking elsewhere.
  4. Guitty- Hernandez/ Powell
    1. I am not a fan of Guitty either. I think she can improve off of her 2 most recent starts but I think she is in over her head. If she returned to the San Clemente she could win this race but she seems to only be a threat if the race falls into her plans.
  5. Warren’s Showtime- Prat/ Lewis
    1. Warren’s Showtime got tired late in the Del Mar Oaks last time out and cuts back to a flat mile which should be beneficial. Prat gets the mount now and that is huge. This horse is going to be ready to roll today and Prat is one of the best on the grass out west. I think it will be very very hard for Warren’s Showtime to lose here today.
  6. Going to Vegas- Gutierrez/ Batlas
    1. Going to Vegas is a closer in a field with very little early speed. This is the other Batlas in the field and I think I would rather choose this one. She is way outclassed but she was coming into form before going on the shelf for a few months. Maybe she will be well rested and fire a big attempt.
  7. Croughavouke- Rispoli/ Mullins
    1. Croughavouke is my top choice in this field. I think Rispoli can get her to not be wide today and that will be key as she seems to like to sit off the pacesetters and can even close from far back. Rispoli can time rides better than anyone else on the turf and I think today will be one of those days where the horse needs it and Rispoli is the reason the connections are in the winners’ circle.

TOP PICKS:
