Race 9 – Desert Vixen Stakes, Non-Graded 100k (6 furlongs, dirt) for two year old fillies
#1 Freak will be a nice price off a bullet workout after a 3rd place finish in the slop in her debut. Rain is coming, putting her in a nice position to surprise. It’s no secret that #9 Princess Secret is the speed of the race. She was bumped at the start of last race and still managed a second place finish in a solid field. I expect her to send for position, but probably hold off a bit from the leaders and wait for them to beat each other up on the front end. #5 Tamiani is one who may get overlooked even though she hs the right connection. Her speed figure on debut wasn’t stellar compared to the group, but she closed well in a 5f race, and pace could set up for such an effort again today. One more who will get some action at the windows is #10 Social Exclusion, but I’m not sold on the turf to dirt angle.

Race 10 – Dr. Fager Stakes, Non-Graded 100k (6 furlongs, dirt) for two year old colts and geldings
#12 Son of a Beast gets the outside post and will likely send in a speedy race. He went head to head in his last effort and put them away showing the kind of heart it will take in a race like this. Pletcher and Zayas are a dangerous combo at 24% in the last year at GP. #10 Mr. Tingles will be a price play who was able to close in the slop last out. Today’s set up may play perfectly into this set up again. #2 Breeze on By dominated his fellow maidens last out and has the speed that you can’t ignore. I worry about the inside post on a sloppy track. Others to consider here include #9 Boca Boy who was a clear winner in MSW company in the slop a couple weeks ago as well as #3 Gatsby who quit in a G3 last out, but 2 yeara olds are finicky and he could be back for an effort more similar to his maiden win.
