Santa Anita Racing Analysis- Friday Feb 8 2019- By Hudson Davis

SA 2/8

Losing week last week with a $-5.20 showing bringing the meet total for top picks to +$17.80. Good luck to all in the NHC this weekend. I hope to join you next year.

Race 1) #2 Stay in Yo Lane finally gets to stretch out a little more today. Given the closing pace and the 5 lb allowance I think this is your winner in the Santa Anita opener.

Race 2) #3 Subic Bay put in a solid race last out after a brief layoff. Loved the running style we saw in the last out and with that race under the belt; I expect this one to flyyyy home!

Race 3) #4 Award It gets back to what I think is the preferred surface being dirt. Ridden by Espinoza, I think this Tapit horse will be close at the end.

Race 4) #3 Persepolis is the pick here. When I see teetering fractions like this one showed in the debut, I’m all over it with a few bucks too. Connections are solid and the horse is ready to go. Single? SINGLE!

Race 5) #2 Oceams Razor comes back from a long break today but I’m not concerned; citing the 58.60 work recently and the blowout upon debut could be looking at a leading California three year old. Love the 2 but #4 Lieutenant Dan looks strong. Name is cool too.

Race 6) #2 Red King looks fantastic in this spot. Has showed fantastic turn of foot which is EXACTLY what you need going a mile in Arcadia. Don’t usually love Gryder on the turf but it might not matter.

Race 7) WOW! What a race! Take a stab here with whomever you like. I personally like the Hollendorfer entries but more specifically #5 Shivermetimbers. Back on dirt with Mr. Mike Smith and ready to fly!

Race 8) Would personally use the all button here but take a look at #2 Sea of Liberty! Under Sadler and Rosario, was once 5th by 15 lengths last out, turned the gas on and finished second by a couple lengths. Fractions might’ve been quick up front but that’s still flying.
