This Pick 5 is a NYRA based play, but most ADW’s and tracks will have it. Search it out, and search out my site at bobbyzen.com while you’re at it!
Leg 1 kicks off about 4:09 PM (eastern) at Oaklawn Race 7. It’s early in the meet there, but speed has been holding pretty good, as well as inside running. The smart jocks already know this.
The first leg is an optional claimer $50,000 2X at 6 furlongs. Curate #8 is the top choice here; won his last, loves the distance. Won the same race here last year, and is in for the tag. Fluminense #11 gets a huge class relief, and has been working well for Asmussen. Principe Guilherme #9 is sharp and coming off a win and a claim by Diodoro.
Leg 2 is Aqueduct race 8, the G3 Withers for 3 YO at 1 1/8 miles. Looks like speed and inside running are going best here, also.
Shotski #5 looks like the one to beat here. He won the G2 Remsen here last month, having lead all the way. Portos #8 won easily last out, but was heavily favored. Monday Morning QB #2 has looked very sharp, but has only sprinted, and parents were sprinters.
Leg 3 is Oaklawn race 8, the American Beauty Stakes for fillies and mares at 6 furlongs.
Amy’s Challenge #3 is coming off an extended break at 9 months, but has won off the freshening many times. She holds a solid class advantage and loves this track and distance. Special Relativity #5 is right back a week after a good second here in a similar stakes race for Diodoro; also likes the track and distance, with a cutback to 6 furlongs, should be strong. If neither fires, look for Three Chords #2, or Irish Mischief #8.
Leg 4 is Aqueduct race 9, an $8000 claimer at 6 ½ furlongs.
Rally Cap #6 drops to a rock bottom level for Linda Rice, who wins at 34% with these drops. Runs well here, and may be too much for this field. O Shea Can You See #5 was claimed from Rice 2 back, and won easily last out at this level. Javelin #8 has been running with better, and if speed fails, could win this one.
Leg 5 wraps it up at Oaklawn race 9, an Allowance 1X for $86,000 at 6 furlongs.
American Mandate #6 appears to do his best running on a fast track, and shows improving speed. Sigalert #8 is lightly raced for Sadler, has been running with better, and second off the layoff. Royal Daaher #3 is coming off a 2 month break, broke his maiden here last year, and looks to get back on track. Candy Cornell #1 hasn’t won in a while, but has good speed and may pop one here.
The bet is a $.50 Pick 5 and looks like this: 8, 9, 11 with 5, 8 with 3, 5 with 5, 6, 8 with 1, 3, 6, 8 for a $72 play. Be sure and check post numbers after scratches (cross check the names), and good luck!
