J-breds take center stage for the day. Hefty purses, competitive fields, weather great – should be fun.
Race 1: 2 – 4 – 5
Bramble Bay’s open company races look strong against these. Consistently higher speed figures than those meeting today. Holy Guacamole may have figured it out based on last out against J-breds. Should be tough. Dreamers’ Getaway a head behind HG in last – close again.
Race 2: 5 – 2- 4
Alta Velocita – Suarez moved prematurely last time – more patience = win. Big Looker – big weekend for Sacco barn – congrats! Continues here?? Likes second. La Divina may shake free but did stop pretty badly in last as lost 13 lengths through the course of last.
Race 3: 3 – 2 – 8
In a field of hard-triers, generally older J-bred mares – going w/ Perspicacious on the stretchout. Maiden win impressive visually- may take another. Nellie Mac comes off back to wins – the last at the level – in career form, looks tough. Banana Anna has made of career of being a consistent check getter – often with these types. Use in exotics.
Race 4: 8 – 1 – 2
I’m Listening looks super tough off last two – which tower over these. Been shipping around but holds his form, best on tap. Postino’s Idol will appreciate the return to a more favorable distance – saves ground for on the board finish. Love That Chick last leaps off the page – never ran anyting near that – steps up.
Race 5: 6 – 3 – 2
A toss up between Sunny Ridge and Golden Brown = GB is always tough with J-breds, while Sunny Ridge is not usually in with state-breds – so therefore may have a class edge. Looks like and easy exacta. My Carrots talented animal – not sure he’s ready for the stretchout off the sprint return (off a 2 yr. layoff).
Race 6: 9 – 6 – 5
Assualt Weaopn – out of Spina super-claim Winiliscious – will improve off debut from outside post today (big change) makes the lead or sits right off it, experience counts. Morning Jackpot favored when misbehaved badly in debut. Improves. Rigged Election should be formidable – but have a feeling a regression is coming and turf works casts doubt.
Race 7: 1 – 9- 2
Midnight Witch looks tough off last – especially from rail. Has the speed to clear, a good breeze coming in for hot barn. Words of a Feather will enjoy the cutback, has lots of bottom, finish off longer races. Finishes well. WindixieWin – turf starts good, draws Lopez, also enjoys the cutback.
Race 8: 6 – 2 – 5
Blank Paige steady works for return from mini layoff. Last 2 works especially good. Has closed well in the past from further back – will need a substantial move forward might be there. Liz’s Cable Girl really hard to fault – stellar career vs. ANY company – weight usually doesn’t matter in sprints – but it’s getting heavy…Politely Crowned – the up and coming ‘heir apparent’ in the J-bred filly ranks? Ceiling hasn’t been reached yet….
Race 9: 10 – 11 – 5
Jersey Fresh gets ridden a little more patiently today and picks them up from just off the pace. Was in between horses in last, usually a disadvantage – clear sailing today. Credo another who I think will be ridden more patiently. Consistent sort who has a good record over the track, and will likely make the first move into the speed. Guiness Spice should be finishing under Gonzalez who knows him well.
Race 10: 10 – 3 – 4
Dial Operator – going for a price here – needed last – from smart (winning) connections – improves a ton off last. Prendimi record over the track is impressive as is his last out in open company. Chunnel another with a great record over the track – repeat of last puts him right there.
Race 11: 3 – 4 – 1
Pretti Tricki sits the winning trip off Dealer’s Girl’s flank – gets first jump on Ebony Ball who should be closing (repeating last race tactics is key here). PT’s last really astounds – needs to stay on grass!
Race 12: 5 – 2 – 6
Pal – interesting that his first timer draws Juarez – may be a hint at ability. Going with the fresh faced first timer with the leading jock. Wallercito today may be the day he forgets to stop. Magical Jaime has burned money for house connections (a plan??) – think she continues down that path today.
