We are BACK baby!
Race 1: MdClm $10k 6F
1st: #1 Cold Sweat, really hate taking this lukewarm favorite in the first back off a long layoff, but he was competitive in MdSpWt events last year and is probably a bargain if claimed at $10k today. Has plenty of gate speed unlike most in here.
2nd: #7 Bayano, has only hit the board once in 7 career starts but has been facing much tougher with the best Beyers in the field. Another one off layoff.
3rd: #4 Top Hat Scrutiny, Wayne Potts has this one headed in the right direction.
Race 2: Clm $16k F&M 1 & 1/16th Turf
1st: #6 Dynamic Miss, hasn’t been out since October at the Meadowlands but it was one of the best efforts of her life at this condition and distance. Her win last year came off the winter layoff at Del going slightly shorter and she really romped that day. Ricky Hendriks knows how to handle them on the turf.
2nd: #8 Girl Next Door, they thought highly enough of this one to try an allowance race after she broke her maiden for $25k as a 2 year old. First out on the dirt the breeding is there and Trevor McCarthy popping up for a small barn like this is a clue.
3rd: #Si Mamacita, February was her highest Beyer of her life, she did OK on turf and synth last year.
Race 3: MdClm $10k 6F
1st: #5 Created Special, has shown gate speed throughout her young career at higher levels than today’s $10k.
2nd: #2 Yes Man, likes to hit the board but doesn’t have much in the way of passing gear. Last work was solid.
3rd: #6 Rare Notion, been off over a year somehow is 9-5 ML fav. Does have highest figures.
Race 4: MdSpWt $40k F&M 1 & 1/16th Turf
1st: #9 Ylikedis, really showed improvement in her first back as a 3 year old at Tampa rallying to lose by just a neck going shorter than today’s distance. Horse she finished in front of has since come back to break her maiden. Kelly Rubley’s horses are always ready to run.
2nd: #3 Pretty and Fast, has definitely improved upon getting to the turf, she rallied close but lost some ground late. Gets blinkers and some of the top local connections.
3rd: #2 Sailingintothewind, Brittany and Sheldon Russell always a force to be reckoned with. Plenty of honest breezes published.
Race 5:Clm $5k 5 & ½F
1st: #2 Smokin Hot Factor, claimed by Magee for $5k and last out after a raging rally that fell a length short and he doesn’t have him in for the tag here which suggests he thinks the level is below him.
2nd: #9 Belmont Ride, a winner last out at this level and another one not in the for the tag.
3rd: #8 Runs for Luck, Ness and McCarthy, horse has changed barns frequently.
Race 6: MdClm $25k 1 & 1/16thM
1st: #1 Crazy Kater, clear improvement when he got on the turf in his last out in September. 3 year old debut looking for more improvement.
2nd: #5 Gallinipper, first turf after a poor effort sprinting on the dirt. Ness nearly 25% on turf.
3rd: #9 American Commander, some good breezes for this Bodemeister son.
Race 7: Clm $8k 5 & ½F
1st: #6 Easy River, competitive in higher class levels recently, drops down to this level after a very close 2nd in restricted allowance company. Three wins prior to that in claiming company and has been going back and forth between Magee and Scott Lake.
2nd: #5 Lord Simba, has won at slightly longer than today’s distance and routinely in 70s Beyers. Not in for a tag.
3rd: #3 Jack Straight, monster effort last out in February earning a 79 Beyer locally at this level.
Race 8: OC$50k F&M 5 & ½F Turf
1st: #14 Ode to Joy, hate hate hate the post position way out towards the main track, but this one has recent efforts that were solid including in stakes company down at Tampa as well as two wins locally. I like her style when compared to the all out speed balls to her inside.
2nd: #6 Ellyb, the other Delacour, possibly more talented and has won going short and long and locally. Hasn’t been out since last October.
3rd: #12 Hip Hop, crazy 12-1 ML on this one, she’s long been a favorite of mine and is breezing tremendously locally.
Race 9: Clm $5k 5 & ½F
1st: #2 Five Card Draw, drops to lowest level of his career, this one is definitely a candidate to be claimed, broke is maiden at the $25k locally.
2nd: #10 Distilled Spirit, obvious Clao trainee dropping in class.
3rd: #7 Chuck’s Dream, all-important gate speed, would need to be all alone by himself.
Race 10: OC$16k 1 & 1/16th Turf
1st: #7 Bowspirit, looked elsewhere but in the end had to settle on this one. Won on this turf on MdMill day beating 13 rivals, no small feat. Very inconsistent, but this level seems to be up his alley.
2nd: #2 Beltway Bob, runs well in claiming company and gets beat bad when moves into allowance company. This is somewhere in between.
3rd: #6 Redeemed Gentleman, a few big time efforts last year on turf.
