Keeneland Racing Analysis — Friday, October 11, 2019, by Shawn Murphy

Here we go, another beautiful day for racing. Time to cash

💰

Race 1

10-11-1

10- Super Terrific- A low level claimer star  the day on this beautiful Friday afternoon. this guy has been racing above this class and hasn’t been embarrassed with his results. I like that he’s going back with his blinkers second off a layoff and dropping in half.

11- Alex of Ice- The likely favoured in here comes in off a win but disqualified against higher for this quality outfit. Use in horizontal wagers.

1- Odie – has been working very well for the short layoff and dropping down in class after second place finish at Saratoga. I think he’s one that will keep taking peoples money and getting close but not quite winning.

Race 2

2-3-6

2- Cowboy Rhythm – A recent claim by Asmussen, likes the track and loves the distance, trainers started out slow in this meet but I like this one for the win.

3- Chief Know It All- another that was recently claimed by a high percentage outfit. Will be well bet based on the 37% win percentage off first time claims and his recent form. Note that he is also one for one at Keeneland.

6- British Humour – Will show some value here even though he’s one of the pics in the morning line, I can see him going off at 4 to 1 or higher and picking up pieces.

Race 3

1-3-6

1- Night Ops – Nice group here for this allowance race and I am leaning towards the rail horse. Was recently the favourite in the Iowa derby and race well over his last five starts. The blinkers on angle has been successful for this trainer and there’s some nice works coming into the short layoff specifically the September 22 Ellis Park work.

3- Gray Magician- The likely favourite here in this short field has raised very well in his last three after a dismal Kentucky Derby outing. The writer changes a positive and the trainer has been very hot with limited starters at this meet.

Race 4

8-7-3

8- Art Buff – this fairly lightly raced four-year-old comes in here after finishing second twice in a row at the same class on the dirt. Her only poor race was a first race going 9 furlongs on the turf. I think she has progressed very well since then and should show a very good outing back on the turf.

7- Classical Magic- Will be on the engine here as she races against elders and the first time at Keeneland on the grass. Big rider change which is positive and should get some value.

3- Zabava – Has won two of her last four, and cuts back for this outing. More probably be the favourite here for these high-end connections.

Race 5

7-1-6

7- My Maiko- Watch the tote board for this three-year-old making her come back. I like the first race she ever raced at Churchill where she showed good speed only to lose by 3/4. One of my concerns would be the trainers zero 415 One of my concerns would be the trainers zero 415 with These long layoffs.

1- Indomitable Spirit- Entry – Lightly raced entry has shown some signs of success in both of their recent races lightly raced entry has shown some signs of success in both of their recent races. Trainer has done very well so far this meet with only a few starters and both of these come in with some nice workouts.

Race 6

9-10-1

9- Tapigal- I like this angle with this two-year-old trained by Brad Cox. A $30,000 purchase is now in for 150,000 coming off some nice works with a trainer that is shown strength debuting in maiden claiming first starts in first time Lasix all signs are pointing to a good start.

10- Rhythm Tree- raced against similar in his first and only start and did quite well. Her experience might help her in the second start as I see her taking the lead or being close to the front early.

1- Glass ceiling- i’m taking a bit of a swing here for this first time starter out of highly regarded constitution. She has shown some nice works coming into this race.

Race 7

9-1-5

9- Shootin the Breeze- I like this horse a lot today but I’m not thrilled with his starting position. Was a little over class last time in the Virginia derby but if you look at the three races before that he has done well since putting on the blinkers.

1- Proliferate- I love the connections, some recent nice workouts and some great races earlier on on the turf. Is getting back on the surface that he has excelled at and should do well here.

5- Bizzee Channel- has never run a bad race and has done well at this distance, shows an increase in speed figures and will be on top early in this mile.

Race 8

2-1-6

2- Mutakaamil- this high-end three-year-old comes back to the races after being off almost a year for exceptional trainer Brown. The work out point to this guy being ready and a winner first time back in a long time.

1- Executive branch- another quality connection here for a first time starter and a high-priced yearling purchase. Nice works leading up to this first race and should run well from the rail.

6- Edgemount Road – things to like here as you’ll get great value for a horse that has increased his speed figures in each race has had some outstanding workouts in the morning and his run well since the addition of Lasix.

Race 9

8-2-3

8- A Little Bit Me- another that I really like today based on the value based on the rider and the quality trainer. Her last two races were very good against similar and with so much speed in this race I see her coming from off the pace to mow them down at the wire.

2- Oleksandra – this ultra consistent five-year-old comes in here and should take a lot of action based on her recent races. As like my top choice I see her coming on late to get a big piece of the purse.

3- Morticia- could be the speed of the speed here and if she gets loose maybe I’ll do carry the speed all the way. If you look at her past performances she was amazing even money in three of her last four races with only one win.

Race 10

2-9-1

2- Due to his Charm- The end the day with a very low level claiming race which it can be A nightmare to handicap. If you throw out his last race it is easy to see some value in here based on his Ellis Park races at below this class.

9- Stormy Pacific- is running back at the same class where he finished second at Churchill. Gets a positive rider switch and has been very consistent with his speed figures for this distance. He is a little wind shy at the distance coming second seven out of 11 times.

1- Entry – Satellite- that last race was really nice first time in a while in a much lower level and should do well coming from behind today.

I like the card , key plays in the 7th and 9th. Let’s cash $$
