Gulfstream Park Racing Analysis — Friday, March 13, 2020, by Christian Avard

Two weeks ago I won over $100 two weeks. Hope my luck continues. The question now is whether to bet on Jorge Navarro and Jason Servis entries. The news that rocked the horse racing industry is still unfolding. Will their horses still deliver? I don’t know. I’m going to bet on them, assuming they’re still good without the drugs, coronavirus or whatever else is out there.

RACE ONE: Maiden claiming $16,000, five furlongs, turf

What a bad group of horses. I’m going with #7 DE PURA SANGRE. The only thing I like about this filly is was that she placed 2nd in a five furlong turf race three back on Dec. 11. Everyone else in this field hasn’t been in the money.

RACE 2: Maiden claiming $40,000, 6 ½ furlongs, dirt

I’m going with #2 SEPTEMBERTEN. Trainer Rohan Crichton is batting .20 in sprints, better than all the other trainers in this race. Recorded a 72 Beyer in his last race (the highest in the field) and gets a jockey switch from Jeffrey Sanchez to Luis Saez, one of the best in 2019-2020. SEPTEMBERTEN is also 7-for-7 ITM. Always comes close. This time he’ll win.

RACE 3: Claiming $12,500, six furlongs, dirt

The only one that stands out is #4 TAKE CHARGE AGAIN. The filly broke her maiden against tougher horses in a $30,000 race. She’s 3-for-4 ITM and jockey Paco Lopez is 4-for-4 ITM when riding. The filly is also switching from turf-to-dirt and Cibelli is batting .32 at this angle. Seems to stand out above the rest.

PICKS: 4-5-6

RACE 4: Maiden special weight 50,000, 6 ½ furlongs, dirt

I’m going with #3 JEANA’S GEM. This was a tough one because #1 EMPIRE MOON also has a shot at winning this. Trainers David Fawkes and Gustavo Delgado are the big fish in the MSW pond. They win often. I’m passing on EMPIRE MOON because she hasn’t placed ITM. Her last two races were lackluster. Although JEANA’S GEM did poorly last time out, Joe Bravo is back aboard and they almost won two back. I don’t know what to do with Jason Servis’ horse #6 ASYENA. I’m betting against Servis horses until the dust settles.

PICKS: 3-1-6

RACE 5: Maiden claiming $30,000, 1 1/16 mile, turf

Let’s go with #6 FANCIFIED. Kenneth McPeek is one of the top trainers in maiden claiming races. In the last two years he’s 7-for-33 .21 winning pct. Taking a class drop and a stretch out as well. Plenty of karma moves. That might do the trick.

PICKS: 6-8-5

RACE 6: Claiming $40,000, one mile, dirt

I got #3 CAUSILISTIC. Colt won at this distance at GP two back. The trainer-jock combo (Edgard Zayas-Antonio Sano) is batting .15 with a $1.23 AVG. ROI. #2 FRANK FIRST will be right up there with him. The two horses are almost the same in terms of abilities, but CAUSILISTIC’s Beyers are more consistent than FRANK FIRST’S. You never know what kind of race FRANK FIRST will run.

PICKS: 3-2-5

RACE 7: Claiming $16,000, five furlongs, turf

I like #7 SECRET MISS. Trained by Rohan Crichton who is 5-for-9 with a .56 winning pct and 67% ITM in the last two seasons. Got a great jockey with Luis Saez and the trainer-jock combo is batting .33 this season at GP. Filly has also placed ITM in three out her four last races. She’s consistent.
PICKS: 7-5-2

RACE 8: Claiming $6,250, 6 ½ furlongs, dirt

The only one that stands out is #6 TUESDAY’S ROSE. Trained by the hottest jockeys at GP, Saffie Joseph. This is the mare’s first race off a claim and Joseph is firing on all cylinders with this angle (82 .41 AVG. ROI $2.44). Top jock Emisael Jaramillo is riding as well and the trainer-jock combo is hot (20 .25 AVG. ROI $2.56).

PICKS: 6-8-1

RACE 9: Optional claiming $16,000/N1X, one mile, turf

I’m going with #6 GHOSTLY BEAUTY. Filly likes this distance. She finished in 2nd in two mile races at GP. Her last race she lost just by one length. Irad Ortiz is riding and I think he’s due for a win today. The trainer-jock combo is also hot (63 .32 AVG. ROI $1.90).

PICKS: 6-1-2

RACE 10: Optional claimer $25,000/Starter allowance $25,000, one mile, turf
PICKS: 10-11-5

Good luck.
