Golden Gate 1/10/2020

12:45 First Post

Competitive 8 race card. Race 3 is leg four of the Stronach 5

Race 1 – 1 Mile CLM 4000

Wide open non-winner of 2, #6 Sure Magic (2/1) comes in off a maiden win. Expect to sit a good trip under Juan Espinoza from just off the pace. #1 My Idol (7/2) has been in the money 3 straight and is improving. Like the upside and could sweep by them late. #2 Bold Ante (4/1) and Frank Alvarado seem logical in this spot. Made a good run last out before flattening out. #4 Lucille (5/2) looking to find the right competition, has been in the money a few times but without a win since 2018. Will go against.

6-1-2

Race 2 – 6F CLM 12500

Very competitive field. #3 Popular Appeal (9/2) broke slow last out when finishing second to Going to Shabooms. Extra half furlong and a clean break gives this one a big shot. #5 Going to Shabooms (5/2) flashed good early speed and won easily last out. Has won twice on the tapeta and Kevin Krigger rides back, is the one to beat. #2 Draw Me (4/1) and #1 Lady Sunset (3/1) both come in off maiden scores. Expect Draw Me to be sent towards the front from the inside. #6 Very Boisterous (7/2) and leading rider Juan Hernandez keeps improving and has been in the money 3 in a row.

3-5-6-2

Race 3 – 5.5F CLM 5000

Top pick #6 Hot’n Notty (4/1) has been running well recently with a 2nd last out following back to back wins. Expect to sit a good trip with Hugo Herrera from the outside. #1 Roman Rocket (9/2) set the pace two races back and expect to be sent from the inside. #4 Power Times Two (9/2) sat off the pace and made a nice run in a going away win last out. #8 Hot n’Famous (8/1) comes in second off the lay-off. Showed speed in the return and could be ready for this one. Like at a price.

6-8-4-1

Race 4 – 6F Maiden CLM 12500

#7 Eight O Five (8/1) was a beaten favorite last out 2 weeks ago. This maiden should be close up and expect a good run. Like the price on this one. #2 Gray Lives Matter (2/1) comes in with 3 consecutive 2nd place finishes. Has lots of speed and should be the one to beat again. #3 Eddie’s Princess (5/2) closed well for third last out. Alvarado should have this one in the mix late. #8 Chanted (6/1) 2nd time starter, broke slow in the debut running behind Gray Lives Matter and Eddie’s Princess. Expect to improve.

7-2-3-8

Race 5 – 1 Mile CLM 20000

#3 Bam Bam Bryan (7/5) has good early speed and likes to be in front. Will be a heavy favorite but should have company up front. Lone tapeta start was a 2nd to #4 Dano’s Dream (3/1) who has been a consistent runner. In the money 11/13 on the synthetic including 4 wins. Second last out to the favorite on the turf. Top pick will be #2 Uber Star (5/2) for Jonathan Wong (20%) that also has a good record on the tapeta with 5 wins in 13 tries. Juan Hernandez should have this one in a good spot.

2-3-4

Race 6 – 1 Mile Maiden 30k

#6 Tizwellwithmysoul (3/1) comes in off a third only beaten 3/4 length. Showed very good early speed and could be dangerous in this field. #1 Sloane Garden (2/1) ships in from Great Britain. Has three thirds and a second place finish in 4 career starts. Big bullet work January 4th on the track shows this one should be ready to go. #4 Catch the Eye (9/2) has Hernandez up and has shown a little ability on the turf, not sure how it will translate to the synthetic.

1-6-4

Race 7 – 1 Mile CLM 3200

Since returning to Golden Gate #5 Eddie and the King (5/2) has a win and a second place finish. Billy Antongeorgi rides back and should be forwardly placed. #2 Unusually Green (9/5) has been dropping after a 0/11 2019. Has not shown much lately but gets the softest competition yet. #3 Cannes (9/2) comes in off a 2+ year layoff last racing in Dec. 2017. This angle worked on Saturday with Nardini in the finale. Could be live.

5-3-2

Race 8 – 6F Maiden CLM 12500

#6 Toni Two Pocket (7/5) and Juan Hernandez showed speed last out on the class drop from MSW and was caught late. With the lack of experience in the field this one could get away. Toss the last race for #7 Patsy Cline (5/2) and ran a solid 2nd at this level two races back, expect Antongeorgi to sit just off and go by if the favorite is empty late. #3 Chieftess (3/1) was a beaten favorite at this level last out. Has been on the board with 2 shows and a place and could be best of the rest.

6-7-3
