Fairgrounds Racing Analysis- Sunday Jan 6, 2019- By Neil Petrocelli

Fair Grounds – Sunday, January 6, 2019

Back off a couple of dark Sundays, lets start the new year off right!  Weather looks to be great, so planning on big turf fields, and exciting finishes.

Race 1:  4-3-2

Think the money is going to show for Light Her Up, but we are going to go with Girl’s Life who looks to enjoy the extra half furlong, and turn the tables on the speed, Tenpins Tempo.  TT Should clear, but may have company.  Girls Life likes the track, long stretch , and should get there.   Light Her Up will be tough off the drop, has figures that would take this, but need to see something off the last layoff…

Race 2:  6-1-2

Five BC has the highest speed rating coming off last (where she was wrestled back) – drops significantly, rider sticks, GO!  Tryon Summer will enjoy the return to turf, comes back quick off last – should be more fit – will use inside post to her advantage.  Happy’s Reflection will show more speed, and may appreciate the stretchout more than obviously apparent on first glance.  Should also appreciate class drop.

Race 3:  2-4-3

Starfish Point wins right back off Sharp claim.  Basically running in the same class, back in 2 weeks, pays immediate dividends.  Memory Magic, beat top pick while getting claimed out of open lengths win – but goes to low profile barn, sat a month off the win, same class – both negatives.  Born to D’Wild ships in off win, steps up a bit, back in 2 weeks – all indicate trainer confidence.  Gets points for consistency.

Race 4:  9-4-7

Fetching Fury 250K 2 yr. old, hasn’t met expectationsdrops significantly off credible 2nd.  Strong barn gathers in a win, FF gets a new address.  Looks Super comes out of same race as FF – drop works for her as well – course winner previously, with good figures.  Shook – moved prematurely last two, Lanerie’s timing better, closes in thick of it.

Race 5:  6-1-2

Never Even Called moved early and wide in last, drops with highest last race speed rating.  Sits just off the pace, and closes for win. Hard to separate Wristlet and Lethal Move – giving the nod for second to W as she seems a bit more tactical, and should use that to her advantage.

Race 6:  11-3-10

Full field of older turfers, giving the nod to the dropping, off the layoff, Hideaway Hero.  Has run well off freshenings, has solid course experience, and Pedroza has history aboard.  Steady work pattern should have him ready. Round Hill, more than solid last two outs, might be sitting on a win, concern is navigating traffic in full field.  Should be closing. Miracle Mountain first off the claim, should use a little more speed today, gets position, there at the finish.

Race 7:  2-6-3

Knocks Big Thirst Comes off a vastly improved run for a higher tag.  Figure earned towers over field, come back quickly – looks the one.  Fair Shot claimed by top barn that normally improves them right off the bat.   Jazz it Up also has the connections, and comes off an improved performance at the level.

Race 8:  6-2-4

Tweezer – breeding, purchase price at 2, and connections all say “Go”.  Ultra consistent work pattern, hints at speed, should get position and finish well.  Interesting that Bravo is sticking with the other Cox runner, Please Sit Down, who will improve off the sprint debut , will show tactical speed, there at the finish.  On the Muscle, from the powerful, always has them ready, Stidham barn. Workout pattern impresses.

Race 9:  2-7-1/1A

Going for a bit of a price, as Eights Wild failed as the favorite (off the bench) against many of these last out.  Was amongst 5 within 2 lengths at finish of last (behind a few of these) but gets ground saving trip this time, and has more finish 2nd time off the bench.  Logan’s Reward, finished 2nd, and ahead of several of todays competitors, will be formidable again.  Looks like only one will go from the entry – either the claim back, Brother Pops, or the consistently in the money Whoz Talkin Now – can be there at the finish.
