Race 6
I’m singling the 5 Bahamian Prince, at 3/5. He’s coming in from Saratoga, and dropping in from Maiden Special to Maiden 25,000. I would hate to do this and be out the first leg, but you have to single here. I believe either you go deep or single, because if you try to go outside of the 5, you would have to use several other horses, and I don’t think that is a good thing to do in this race.
Race 7
I singled last race, and now I’ll go a little deeper here. 1 San Marco, at 6/1, speed and fade going longer back to short. 2 Lucky Junior, at 3/1, also showed speed and faded last time out but runs better going short. 3 Campari, at 5/2, hasn’t been out in a year, but has class and runs consistently decent. If he’s right you have to use this horse even off the layoff. 4 Rip Rap Riley, at 4/1, is taking a drop from the starter optional claiming level. 7, CM Runaway, at 5/1, hasn’t been out in a year, but was running decent prior to the break. 1,2,3,4,7; 5 deep here.
Race 8
In this cheap maiden claiming turf sprint, I’m only going three deep, but if the AE scratches then 2 deep. 1 Tempted by Tito’s, at 4/1, will be on the ticket. If you throw the last race out, and look at the race two back at Laurel where she was bet to 3.70 cents to the dollar, it looks promising. It was a yielding course, as opposed to the firm track she’ll get today. She ran fair, but has been bet so much, so often, that she is going to find a spot to win. Maybe today is the day? The 2 Can the Queen, at 5/1, is first time starter out of Can the Man and an Empire Maker mare. She’s been working fair, not flashy. Angel Cruz rides; he is always tough. The 13, Mabel’s Fable, if this horse is in you could knock some people out of the sequence. At 12/1, finished a hard fought 2nd at Colonial Downs, and seems to me a horse that just keeps on improving. If I was betting this race alone, I would bet a smaller win bet and bigger show on the 13. If she is scratched, I would bet the 1 to win and place. For the pick 5 use 1,2,13.
Race 9
3 deep with the 5,6,7. The 5, 3/1 Wee Monie Creek, is the best horse in this race for $5,000. He has always run a good race when in for this price. When not in for this price, he is average, but when in for $5,000 runs very well. I would almost say single, but the 6 8/1 Greasedlightning, looks dangerous, too. He’s coming in off a short race ran last on 9/18 and won at Delaware with Keivan Serrano. This horse likes Laurel with a 23-4-3-7 record. Keivan Serrano is my friend and I am not sucking up when I say this can boot a horse like this in. The 7 Greely’s Strike, at 6/1, was a last second addition. I would throw the horse out poor form, but he likes Laurel 10 starts 4 wins and 3 seconds 0 thirds. That’s all it takes to win a race like this. If I was betting this race alone, I would bet an exacta box 5,6 and 5,7. 3 deep here 5,6,7.
Race 10
I’m only going two deep in here with the 10 4/1 Miss Aliphant. She just always runs a bang up solid race. Doesn’t like to win, however, so I would like to see her do what she did when she broke her maiden and just go out and sit close, unlike when she tries to come from deep and just runs well. The 12, 7/2 Mamma Dee, previously trained by Linda Rice ,finished 4th last time at Colonial Downs. Seemed like a decent horse at one time, but maybe can’t clear n/w 2 until needing a drop-in class. She gets it here, away from the NY circuit and Colonial Downs, might be in right today. 2 deep to end with the 10 and 12.
