Aqueduct Racing Analysis- Saturday Nov 23 2019- By Spencer Luginbuhl

Race 1

3-5-1

#3 Mandatory Payout: I am taking the chalk in the opener this is a pretty weak race and there are tow class droppers coming out of allowance races. Nice to see James Ryerson using the new bug boy and its always nice to see a good race and then a nice work right behind it. He has lost against weaker in the claiming ranks and broke his maiden at the bottom level of 20K. the last three Beyers are some of the best in the field.

#5 Riken: this 3-year-old gelding has some good speed and has never been in for a claiming tag both nice positives in lower-level claiming races. it took them a long time to drop which is interesting seeing as how he broke his maiden in 2018. He gets back to his proper surface and I would take out all those turf starts even though the family and mom and dad liked turf this one didn’t seem to like it much.

Race 2

2-10-11

#2 City Temper: The only sibling to this horse also has a win on turf and trainer Danny Gargan knows how to get one ready first time out. A nice Dan Illman angle is if they pay more then 10X at a sale always have a second check at that runner this one paid 17X

#10 Magnetique: I like that this one dueled and was up close last time you want horses closer to the pace in sprints. Todd Pletcher’s numbers are better then expected first-time turf at 15% with 170 runner samples.

Race 3

3-8-1

Race 4

5-8-3

#5 My Bernie: This Shipper comes from Monmouth and one of the better trainers out there Kelly Breen has always been good off layoffs and also usually keeps them in good form off wins. He Definitely improved off the surface switch and now needs to show he is good against open claimers.

#8 O Shea Can U See: Top connections here and it is a small drop in class most state-bred races you cut in half and that’s what the open claiming level is. This one might have some trouble being a closer in this race the six and one are the main speeds and may not set it up for this M/L favorite.

Race 5

7-5-10

Race 6

6-1-7

Race 7

7-6-1

#7 Free Enterprise: Hard to take at a short price but definitely the horse to beat the last 3 races are all good enough to win at this level. Chad brown equals underlay and this one at even money or higher is a good price.

#6 Zealous: Got beat as the favorite last time out but with the slow fractions, it might have left him to much to do with a race that might be better then on paper you might get a decent overlay on a good underneath exacta. Just from the life box, this horse has 5 seconds in 12 career starts.

Race 8

7-6-8

Race 9

4-7-9

Race 10

7-10-2

#7 Victory Built: Improved off the drop and has seemed to find his spot against maiden claimers. If he can get the lead again which seems to look like a good chance with the only other possible speeds being the 9 if he gets back to the debut speed and the 10 adding the blinkers. The price is right taken this speedball if he improves another 7 points which is a lot for this level he will be right at the Beyer Par level. Vargas and Micheal Maker arent normal New york connections so maybe the price stays above 10-1.

#10 Blues City: This M/L fav is up against it from a pace perspective being a deep closer does add blinkers so hope he shows extra speed from the outside he will also need to get over recent gate problems to break with our speedy top pick. He is the only horse with multiple Beyers within the Beyer Par which makes these types very hard to beat. I’m expecting this horse to take to much money and make him a total underlay anything 5-2 or higher take a swing.
