Race 1-
1st #1 Angelfromthestars ran second two weeks ago, losing by just under a length. She seems to like Turfway, has some talent. Five wins from twenty-seven starts.
2nd #4 Rulelikecleopatra is nine years old, runs pretty strong at these levels. She ran third at this level last out, coming off of a long layoff. Won two in a row earlier last year too.
3rd #7 British Invader (GB) has never ran at Turfway, and lost by fifteen last out. I feel like she’s kind of moving in the wrong direction as a racehorse, but now maybe running for $5K will help.
Race 2
1st #8 Do Not Enter won seven in a row last year and in 2018. Last fall, that streak came to an end and he hasn’t won again. His first race at Turfway was last out, and even though he ran fourth, he only lost by two and a half.
2nd #2 Tee Tee has been on the board thirteen out of twenty-six starts which is impressive and it shows consistency. The win last out was nice, he seems to be running in a good place right now and liking Turfway.
3rd #4 Tale of Fame is coming off of a win last out, and a second before that. Fairly consistent, one thing I like about some lower level geldings. Seems to like Turfway, on the board 3 out of 5 starts here.
Race 3
1st #4 Mason AP ran third last time at Churchill for $18K. Now he’s running for $15K, and Rogelio Miranda has been pretty good with this horse. Hopefully at 4/1, they can get the job done.
2nd #10 Yondering has such good breeding that it’s a shame he hasn’t turned into more than he is. It was great seeing him win last out, because he was due for it. This is his first race here.
3rd #7 Town Drunk has had a couple of months off, and hasn’t raced here before. He was a $2,500 purchase and has gone on to make just over $54K. I liked his last performances so he should be ok here,
Race 4-
1st #6 Detour won by five and a half last out, it was a pretty impressive run. She seemed to like the track, as last out was her second race here and she won. Hopefully she can repeat it.
2nd #9 Cooler Schedule drops in for half the price here, it was her first race at Turfway and she lost by fourteen and three-quarters lengths. I think the class drop will help.
3rd #8 You People has gone downhill performance wise and isn’t as impressive as she used to be. Hopefully running at the bottom can help her, last out she only lost by a length and a half.
Race 5
1st #11 Miss is Zippy improved a lot last out when she went from running ninth to second. She may like the synthetic too. Although she was “no match” last out, she had an improvement for sure.
2nd #8 Purple Martin ran third by a little over four lengths. Shelley’s Gem beat her last out, maybe this time she can beat SG. Like the breeding a lot too.
3rd #4 Shelley’s Gem seemed to like Turfway more than Churchill based on her performance after she moved. I think as she gets more experience, she will continue to improve.
Race 6
1st #3 Mr Everything is coming off of a six-month layoff, and a big class drop. Wesley Ward trains. Hopefully he is all healed up, (if he was injured), but I think he will need an out or two.
2nd #9 Alfred was bred by Zayat Stables and sold for $60K. He’s ran at several different tracks, and his first race at Turfway, he lost by half a length.
3rd #4 Austrian was a $90K purchase, and he gets the blinkers on here. Hopefully this class drop will help, he’s got a long ways to go to improving for Calumet Farms.
Race 7
1st #7 Straightouttapopcorn ran second last time, it would be nice to see her get a win. She had been in some tough races, but hopefully bounces back now that she’s in an easier spot.
2nd #3 Arch of Troy comes from New York where she’s ran some nice races. She’s had two months off. She had run in some tough races too so hopefully Kentucky will treat her good.
3rd #8 Bye Bye Bully’s ran a nice third last out. Also has ran in some tough spots, and handled them well. I really liked her Keeneland race two back despite it being a seventh-place finish.
Race 8-
1st #2 Twelve Monarchs ran much better when given the big class drop. Hopefully the twelfth start is the charm and she can finally get the win. No worse than second in her two races here.
2nd #5 Take Charge Cacky gets the blinkers off and class drop, which should help. Has yet to be on the board here, or hit the board at all since July, which is a bit concerning.
3rd #9 Wolfe Country Miss should be better than this with her fantastic breeding. She’s bred for the turf, but when they tried her on the turf she just didn’t show up. Maybe the class drop can change it up for her.
