Race 1
1-3-5
1 entry- First race looks like chalk both parts of the one entry look very good in this dismal field if the 1a runs back to his maiden 15,000 race he would win easy and if 1 runs back to his previous Turfway race he should win easy.
3- The 2 and 6 will both take some money but I’m not a fan of either one. I looked elsewhere and found the 3 pretty consistent and will be second off a layoff this trainer has had one other winner second off a layoff.
5 – The drop-down will help and hopefully the blinkers will to for noble destiny to get part of the trifecta.
Race 2
4-3-2
4- boy this race is a doozy. It looks like a lot of front end speed for these 5000 claimers going a mile. I think if the number 4 can run back to his Turfway lines this time last year as a great shot to win. This is the third off a layoff and ran a commendable race last outing.
3- another one in here that looks like he’ll want to be close to the pace just hoping the pace doesn’t burn him and he can stay on at the finish should get a nice price.
2- Ran A great race last time out for this low percentage trainer. She dropped down for the last and racing in the same category today also looking for her to sit pretty and hit the board.
Race 3
9-7-5
9- big-time speed from the outside should put this gelding in front early and should last with this week field. Will be the favourite and may not give much of value also not impressed with his synthetic record.
7- if you’re looking for more value this gelding should help you out. Two very good races are the last three at Turfway not sure what happened on the December 12 race.
5- another value play from a nine-year-old gelding. His last two at Turfway were great runs.
Race 4
7-3-4
7- This gelding will show some value. The past two races at Turfway look pretty bad in form but actually aren’t bad considering the rest of the field. He’s had some nice Races at six and 6 1/2 furlongs. I see him picking up the pieces down the lane at a good price.
3- Will most likely be the favourite for a high percentage trainer. The slight increase in price tag should not come into play as he has been racing well of late.
4- should also get some value on this gelding showed a nice comeback race on December 26 and should progress from there. Had some nice races on the grass last summer and that form may transfer to tonight‘s race.
Race 5
8-7-4
8- tonight might finally be the night that this 12 time runner breaks his maiden. He’s very consistent in both his speed figures and placings the only problem is we’re looking for him to get out of the trend of finishing second third and fourth. Looks like tonight is graduation night.
7- This gelding won’t have it easy but with the addition of blinkers and the two recent Races sure has a shot tonight. If you look at it past form it really only had one bad race and that was on the sloppy track.
4- drops down tonight after having three poor races in a row. Good sign that the writer sticks with this gelding as the blinkers come off. Has not run well since the front bandages have been put on.
Race 6
1-8-2
1- This race looks like a straight tri. My midnight affair comes in from the West Coast for a high-end trainer looking to wire the field in this MSW. Shows a strong work out on January 11 and should have no problem with this field.
8- not a bad race on the cart of this 4 year-old Filly. I bounced between the top two knowing that they will both be strong this evening. Look for value as either one could hit the top spot.
2- this first starter out of Giants Causeway that was picked up at the Keeneland September sale for $110,000 may have a say in the Outcome.
Race 7
6-5-3
6- this regally bred four-year-old filly should be ready off a lay-off and comes back with a new trainer tonight. I think they were thinking of big things for this horse and now gets in a position to win her second.
5- another that should get some great value tonight her last two races were exceptional even with the step up in class a good play to get in the money.
3- looks like the favourite in this field coming off a great race at Turfway on December 19. Line notes of his last race indicate checked sharply late and if she runs back to that race without any trouble may be the winner.
Race 8
10-5-6
10- represents the same connections that I picked earlier on in the card. Trainer change for this outing and also reducing greatly in value. Trainer has high percentage synthetic results that should lead well in this race.
5- Second start for this three-year-old looking for progression as she cuts her price in half. Did show some interest in her first race and trainer shows a high percentage with maiden second time starters.
6- dropped big time for this race coming off a layoff also shows some strong works and a trainer that is 1 for 1 at Turfway.
As usual some value plays for tonight, giddy up and make some money.
