Last week, we had some success but we need more. I can’t be known as the chalk guy, I just won’t have it so lets hit some homers today. Now there’s a little bit of a learning curve here because whether we are talking CD, Keeneland, or KD – I’m all over it but Turfway is something I have never really tried to tackle so we’re gonna give it our best go and see what happens. We’re either gonna make a bunch of money or lose almost every race; either way the ride down is going to be a ton of fun, so without further ado lets get to it
Race 1 MC7500 1M
Pick: 9-8-6-2
Boy oh boy this race is a STINKER. First off go ahead and throw out both Maker horses are less than appealing with never hitting the board. #9 Coneofuncertainity has experience on this surface and didn’t run terrible and that was up in class. I think that experience and the class drop gives him a shot. #8 Trust Me Now is an unraced colt who is out of a Medaglia d’Oro unraced Mare by Tiznow. Trainer Ortiz has a great track record with maiden claimers and why not take a shot with a horse you are going to get at a price. #6 Love My Boss, ideally this horse wants to be sent to the lead and if he gets it, at this class, he might just wire the field.
Race 2 5K Claiming 5.5f
Pick:2-10-7-4
I guess I’m going to have to get used to these lesser races so lets see what we are working with. #7 Floroplus is the horse to beat in this race. I can’t believe they are running this horse at this price, it raises serious questions marks – I mean going back 3 years this horse 3 years ago was bought 600k. Now he’s being raced for 5k after being claimed for 25k, that doesn’t add up. I’ll use him under neither maybe but not to win. #2 Ambidextrous Alex lives in this class with some success and on of my favorite angles, he runs well at TP with 4 wins out of 10 races. #10 Soul of Discretion dropping down to his lowest class yet and his recent trips look like they have been littered with bad luck and bad trips, look for him to get right here.
Race 3 15k Claiming 1 mile
Pick: 8-5-9-11
#8 Tidal Effect similarly interesting class drop but this is the horse for the course and it looks like the connections are just looking for anything to work. I think he gets it done. #5 Darkness Beauty is a live long shot if you throw out his last start where he gave way you are looking at a very game horse… he very much needs to improve but this is a class spot where he looks live with a price.
Race 4 Allowance 6.5f
Pick: 6-7-5-9
This race screams two horse race with two other horse who are on the outside looking in. #6 Bizzee Channel seems to be a horse looking for a soft spot to catch a quick win. A turf horse that has a little bit of experience on the all weather surface. #7 American Mandate loves this sprint distance and also looked to be trying to find a quick win coming to TP after battling with the elite in Keeneland and CD. I would box these two in an exacta for some good money. #5 Declined has been trying to battle with the best but the main success has been at the lesser tracks and maybe hell find success again but he has been beaten by #7 already before. #9 Kneeedeepinsnow won a very high class MSW in may and hasn’t raced since, this is probably just a tune up for him.
Race 5 STAKES 6f
Pick: 9-8-7
We have Stakes action at TP!! #9 Jean Elizabeth lets not get cute here. This filly is 7/11 on all weather tracks and is 10/16 over all. They need to move this horse up to graded stakes company pronto. 9 will win at a short price unfortunately. #8 Still There a horse that has some class and will definitely be pressing the lead of 9. I wouldn’t be shocked to see this race end 9-8. #7 Rocky Policy there is good chance that we are looking at 9-8-7 finish. This is another horse for the course but isn’t good enough to threaten 9.
Race 6 MSW 6f
Pick: 9-12-1-10
#9 My Man Flinstone has been running strong and has come in second both starts and has gotten closer each time. #12 Sequin is the class of this race and has just come up short in each of his 3 maiden races. I think if he can get the lead or at least close to it he can win but the post position does not make that an easy feat. #1 In Charge, I know D Wayne doesn’t have it anymore but look this horse going to be somebody I believe that and while I’m not sure he can win he will be involved.
Race 7 50k AOC 1 mile
Pick: 1-8-6-5
#1 Diamonds Enjoy (BIG PRICE hopefully) won first out, crossed 2nd next out and the last time out had to check hard taking him out of his race. That means we are going to get good value for a horse that has some talent! #6 Predator a well bread classy horse is going to be stretching out a little bit but for his price I don’t love him even with how he pulled away in his last out. A strong favorite, but a beatable favorite. #5 Artemus Eagle coming of a strong win in Keeneland he will need to improve a little bit to keep up but he did go away driving. Look for a pace duel early that could open up for #1 or #8 Memorable who is classy and well raced with graded stakes experience. Should benefit from a hot pace.
Race 8 5K MC 5.5f
Pick: 4-7-5-3
Race hurts my eyes to look at. #4 Lady David, give me this horse because she’s the only horse that’s had any in the money success, that’s all I got. If that fails then just take #11 Tay Town she’ll be the favorite and has a good of a shot as any.
