| #1- PROMISES FULFILLED – LUIS SAEZ/ DALE ROMANSHe might not be the quickest horse in the race, but he is experienced and proven. Promises fulfilled, has tons of early foot and is primed to fight for the lead. However, #3 Mitole should be gunning too and could be quicker and more classy. He is 2 for 2 at Saratoga, winning both a G3 and a G1 as a 3yo. However, I just don’t like the post that much, and having Mitole close to him in the gate and both gunning, I just think that he will not get the trip he would prefer. Use him but not on top. #2- AIR STRIKE- JOEL ROSARIO/PHIL D’AMATOHe is shipping in from California, in which he just ran 4th in the Bing Crosby. He isn’t in this class range, but he is a closer. Will have to have the pace fall apart for him to make a name for himself. I like Rosario aboard because in my eyes, he is the best jockey on a closer in the country. Could be sneaky. #3 MITOLE- RICARDO SANTANA JR./ STEVEN ASMUSSENThis horse is CLASSY. Has only lost once this year and that was a 3rd in the Vanderbilt at Saratoga last time out. That race was tons classier than this field and I just think this race is his to lose. Watch OUT. TOP PICK #4 KILLYBEGS CAPTAIN- ERIC CANCEL/ JOHN TERRANOVA IIThis is the horse I can see that shakes everything up by battling with the pacesetters. If he attacks the #1 and #3 and makes them use up everything, it can set up for others. I just don’t think he fits in here unless he steals it by setting incredible fractions on the lead. #5 BON RAISON – JOSE ORTIZ/ CARLOS MARTINThis race can set up for him but I think he is just not quick enough. I do like the addition of Jose Ortiz who rides better than anyone when it comes to big races. Great record at Saratoga, which means he likes the track. Could be the Wildcard of the race. #6- FIRENZE FIRE- IRAD ORTIZ JR/ JASON SERVISThis is the classiest closer/off pace horse. However, he just doesn’t like Saratoga compared to other NY tracks. I think he is more of a G3 and a borderline G2 horse. This might just be right out of his range but it could set up for him. Irad will have him ready.ReplyForward |
