RACE 1: 6-8-5
6-STREET IMAGE has only been on grass one time, sort of, when he ran in the Del Mar Juvenile last September but was pulled up. Should be the speed here and if that translates to turf think he will take them all the way. Phil D’Amato is 5 for last 16 first off the claim and is second time Blinkers. 8-Seeking Refuge was 3rd vs MSW last out and drops today where Doug O’Neill is 28% with this type of drop. Switches to Bejarano today.
RACE 2: 7-6-1
7-TAKES A VILLAGE was a solid runner up in debut 2 weeks ago and cuts back to 4 1/2 furlongs today after setting pace that 6/7 race. Also gets advantage of drawing outside as opposed to the rail in that race so may not be forced to early lead today though obviously will be close up. 6-Vegan has been 2nd twice in two career starts as the 4-5 favorite both times. Should be stalking the pace again today, but I can’t go “Vegan” today (or any day really)
RACE 3: 6-4-7
RACE 4: 4-1
4-FEELING STRONG has not done much his last two, but both were on turf and his last try on dirt was 2nd in the Cal Cup Derby. 1-I Can Do This will be the favorite but will be a very low price here and is coming off three consecutive runner up finishes plus leading rider Flavien Prat remains aboard. Thinking the 3,5, and 6 will vie for the early lead.
RACE 5: 2-8-1
2-AWESOME HEIGHTS won here at the end of May in a $30K beaten claimer and comes in second off the layoff. Should be close up to a contested pace here. 8-North County Guy has been second his last two going a mile and cuts back to a sprint for Richard Baltas, who is 27% with beaten favorites.
RACE 6: 6-5
6-CALL YOU TOMORROW makes 3rd start and moves up to $50K MC after a strong 2nd of 14 at $30K last out adding Blinkers and catching a fast track. Should be on or near early lead. 5-Reedly was a nose beaten 2nd in debut last month and Baffert is 25% second career start. The probable favorite.
RACE 7: 3-6-2
3-PROUD PEDRO will more than likely be favored and is facing winners for the first time, but think the addition of Blinkers last time helped prevent slow starts that hindered him in first two starts as he won by a length going longer than today. Prat stays aboard. 6-Of Good Report has won last two races including last out vs $50K OCs. 2-Nolde won last out going away by 3 lengths in turf debut and should be in contention before stretch.
RACE 8: 7-2-8
RACE 9: 6-4-2
