Last week finished with a total of -$6.40 bringing meet total down to +$5.00 for win only. That being said the picks last week played much better than the results show!! The highlight was the backwards exacta in Race 4 which paid quite well. Another fun moment was watching a top pick (Harrovian) at 28-1 fight for a nice third place finish. Shooters shoot! Let’s get after it today.
Race 1) What a field for an opener eh? We’re gonna start off by taking a shot and using #2 Tough Sunday. This one is undefeated on the grass and the short distance off the layoff might be just what the doctor ordered. Don’t overlook #3 Stormy Liberal- Breeders’ Cup winner here who is looking to start off the 2019 campaign with a bang. Should be ready to roll.
Race 2) Fun little race here given the short field and I’m going to go with the #1 Convince. This horse is sprinting for the first time and might go wide eyed seeing the wire while in front. Eurton looks to have this one in a good spot and expect Mario to give a good ride.
Race 3) #2 Stay in Yo Lane is going to absolutely love the little cut back in distance to six furlongs and will also enjoy the fast track. Here’s another one who I think will have the lead close to home and at 4/1 is worth a play.
Race 4) #7 We All Have Dreams looks like the one to make mine come true. Second off the layoff after trying the allowance ranks one last time looks sharp to me. Most similar race to today was the debut which could take this race. I expect this 7 to be drawing away. Top Pick. Highly recommend playing a double here. 7/3,4,10,12. I’ll be playing it and you should too.
Race 5) #12 The Craic (AE) There is no angle I like more than the competitive race at Kentucky Downs. I think that place does wonders for a horse. Great race there, loves the turf, has been working very good. Fits the puzzle here in a tough race. #4 Tyfosha at 10-1 here probably won’t go off like that. Seems the horse likes the turf here and the distance with the hill should be PERFECT.
#10 Special Purpose looks to get back to business and I think this filly out of Scat Daddy is going to do just that. #3 Trustini turns an eye because of the pedigree and the one turf run. Horse came flying late down the hill and with the experience could be there at the end.
Race 6) #4 Tick Tock. Thought about passing on this race but like this filly just enough. Figueroa has had a couple races to figure this one out and I expect her to be a little closer to the front today. Seems like she will like the distance and she’s not competing against All-Stars today.
Race 7) Race seems like it’s wide open. Pass for me.
Race 8) #6 Liberty Park is a second time gelding here who cuts back a sixteenth of a mile. Tapit bred and a shorter field are all good signs.
Race 9) #3 Georgie Hyphen looks like he needed the last race. If this one starts better and uses the distance, could be a winner. #1 Gray Admiral is worth a look at these kinda odds. His best is enough to win this one today. Not a top pick, but definitely worth that look.
