Oaklawn Racing Analysis- Sunday Feb 3 2019- By Patrick Mooney

Oaklawn Park, Super Bowl Sunday, February 3rd

st Post 1:05 CST
Last week I made my debut for Daily Gallop but was under a time crunch due to a weekend at a
waterpark with my kids (glad that is over). Going forward I will include a best bet, longshot (8-1 ML or
larger) and in the spirit of Oaklawn’s on-track enhanced payoff, a 3 to 4 race show parlay.
Oaklawn is my favorite track and I have been fortunate to visit the last 5 years for Arkansas Derby
weekend. I have also had good fortune on several of those weekends, in particular last year when I hit
the pick 5 on Apple Blossom day for just under 8K. I may be publishing some P4 or P5 bets throughout
the meet but for the most part will be sticking with the aforementioned selections. Good luck and hope
to see some of you come April down in Hot Springs!

Best bet: Race 3, #6 Cash Register

Longshot: Race 7, #6 Coleman Rocky

Show parlay: Race 1 #5 Lifesbeengoodsofar/Race 3, #6 Cash Register/Race 4 #7 Peachy/Race 7, #1 Only
Liquor

Race 1: Lifesbeengoodsofar has showed early foot versus better and should relish the class relief. A.P.
Royal also drops to his lowest level ever for Catalano. It is rather rare you see an Asmussen horse debut
at this level so will assume I’m River belongs here and gets a piece.
R1 Selections: 5-4-10

Race 2: Redneck Alley was claimed 3 times this past summer at Cby and has been competitive vs open
company, returns to state bred action and should get it done. Burtnjoe showed potential last year at OP
but has been on the shelf since April. If he is ready watch out. Meanbone is coming off a win at CD for
Moquett and his best can get it done here.
R2 Selections: 9-6-7

Race 3: NW3L in today’s 3rd and Cash Register should get her 3rd win after dueling in her last at RP and
now switches to the Villafranco barn that his at 24% with 1st off the claim. Deauville Mist will drop over
and make her run late. The Illinios-bred Brown Eyed Blues should sit a nice stalking trip throughout.
R3 Selections: 6-12-9

Race 4: Peachy ships in from SoCal and debuts for Diodoro, should sit a nice stalking trip and get her
second win. Kennedell drops from the 20K level and has a bullet going in. Key Red is tough to gauge due
all previous races are on poly but McNight has been hot here the first week of racing and she has shown
good early foot.
R4 Selections: 7-1-10

Race 5: 6 maiden fillies and 1 mare are on display chasing the abbreviated finish line and Subiaco should
be ready after her debut in November at CD. Pretty At War has had a couple rough trips in her last two
at FG and should be tough saving ground from the 1 post. Tapizar has 2 good seconds in Kentucky last
year and gives Moquett a second live runner in this one.
R5 Selections: 7-1-5

Race 6: Maiden races are usually my favorite type of race to bet, however this is one I would strongly
consider passing on altogether or simply hit the “ALL” button for horizontal wagers. A bit of a nightmare
to handicap, but Grandgran showed a glimpse of putting it together last time out at FG with the addition
of blinkers despite a nightmare trip. Run This Town has one race, finished last vs Md Sp Wt but should
appreciated the drop. Gordie ran 2nd at this level last time out at TP.
R6 Selections: 1-7-2

Race 7: Only Liquor loves OP and should also relish the set-up here to sit just off several that will be
dueling hard on the front end. One of those is the 10 yr old Googleado, who if can clear will be
dangerous. Coleman Rocky has 3 wins in his last 5 and is another to watch at a price.
R7 Selections: 1-4-6

Race 8: Firehorn exits key races in his last 2 in Kentucky. The entry of El Asesino/Earnednevergiven both
come from SoCal and will be tough. Coach Adam loves OP, always tries hard and has good early foot.
R8 Selections: 2-1/1A-5

Race 9: If I’m alive in a P5 or P4 here I hope this race is well covered. A very competitive field of claimers
is our final foray before kickoff and Gemini Journey should appreciate the slight drop in class. My Darlin
Sofia takes off the blinkers for Robertson and picks up Canchari. The 8 year old Perfect Paradise makes
her OP debut and runs first time for Broberg off a couple good efforts at Zia.

R9 Selections: 5-3-10
