The Stronach 5 on January 3, 2020 will be a sequence that I’ll never forget. I hardly ever play the sequence because it can be incredibly tough & pricey, but choose to dig into the $1 min 12% takeout wager. Here’s how I turned $28 into $1187 in just over an hour.
Leg A. Laurel Park $7.20
Track was muddy on Friday which made this race was pretty obvious to me. Loved the 3 Shak’s Hidden Gem with Katie Davis in this spot. This horse has shown tons of interest on a sloppy track. Hitting the money twice over 3 starts in 2019. Didn’t get the 6-1 ML but moved on to the next leg.
I went 3,6 on ticket.
Leg B Gulfstream $16.00
I had no opinion here. I went all on ticket and got lucky with a 8-1 shot. Thank you Paco
Leg C Golden Gate Fields. $4.60
My first single leg. 4 Morning Cynn With Juan Hernandez aboard. She won by seven lengths last out at GG with Hernandez riding & Badilla going back to back at 26%. Took at shot against the 9/5 ML favorite here and got the favorite lol.
I’ve only paced around my living room after making it to the last leg of a sequence a few times in my life. But it wasn’t for a big score this time. I had no clue what I could win but I knew the ROI would be nice. The Stronach group ran leg E over Leg D by about 20 seconds. Yup leave it to them to screw up their own wager. I was able to watch the entire Santa Anita race and catch Paco in the final stretch run for the Dub.
Leg D. Gulfstream Park $5.40
Second single of the ticket. I went with the 2-1 Favorite Gabys Dream trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. ridden by Paco Lopez. Showed interest in distance last out. First time blinkers hitting at 23%. Saffie hitting 28% off the lay-off. Paco has been hot at GP so I took a shot here with another single to cut cost.
Leg E. Santa Anita $6.80
I used the Step brother/sister shippers from across the pond 8 Invincibella W/ Tyler Baze & 9 Point Hope. Neither horse got it done in 2019 and were up for a 25k price tag. They made the exacta.
