RACE 1: RACE 2: 4-5 Projecting a Reed Saldana exacta here with 4-POINT GUARD and 5-Jump The Tracks. POINT GUARD is dropping multiple class levels from his last vs $16K beaten claimers, Which Saldana is 3 for his last 5 doing. Small sample I realize but in a race where there looks to be little early pace and no one really in good form I’ll take it. Judging from BRIS pace figures should be right near the lead early on. 5-Jump The Tracks is the only horse entering off of 2 consecutive ITM finishes, which were both at the $8K level up at Golden Gate. First off the claim for Saldana but may have to lay closer to the pace than he has recently. RACE 3: 4-2 RACE 4: 3-1 Not normally a fan of taking FTS vs horses that have shown ability in previous races, but taking a chance here with 3-NOBLE PURSUIT , who comes in for John Sadler(18% FTS). Sadler and Jockey Jorge Velez are 4 of last 10 together. Sire Curlin is 13% FTS and NOBLE has a nice work over the track two back , going 5 furlongs in :59.4 . His Dam is former Stakeswinner Love Match. 1-Oil Can Knight looks to be the heavy favorite here coming off a pair of ITM finishes vs Maiden Claiming. Doug O’Neill is 12% turf to dirt and breaking from the rail I feel he will be sent. No surprise if he wins but hard to take at s probable short price. RACE 5: 2-4 2-NORWEGIAN is taking a major class drop from $50K OC to being in for $12.5K today, and Also goes turf to dirt for Michael McCarthy(22%) and has JC Diaz Jr aboard, who has started out the meet red hot. Getting a 7lb weight break going a mile doesn’t hurt either. 4-Topaz Time May be in front early and could very well take them all the way, but coming in off 9 month layoff and Trainer Paul Aguirre is only 6% last 17 starters off long layoffs. RACE 6: 4-6 In a race where 4 horses look to either be battling for the lead or within a length or two,4-STURDY ONE has shown the ability to either win from the lead or sit right on the leader early and take over. Look for her to do that today. Cutting back from 1 Mile. 6-Duranga won her last and two of last three for Peter Miller. Will be coming from off the pace and should be able to go by the tiring pace horses struggling to keep up with top selection. RACE 7: 8-9-7 We end the day with this full field of 10 going 6 furlongs in this maiden claiming $20K race. 8-DARPA ran a decent 3rd in debut two back at $75K level before trying turf with not as good results. Trainer John Sadler is 22% turf to dirt and 25% dropping multiple class levels. 9-Magnificent Q T has a pair of runner up finishes sandwiching an eased finish in her second career start. /Nd off the layoff here but major concern is she seems to come from off the pace and not sure that will work today. |
