Overall meet stats for Sprint, Routes, Turf and Dirt
Sprint leaders
Rosario Montanez leads all jocks with 7 wins, although Pimentel and Lynch have a better win percentage, at 29%
Weston Hamilton is a weak 6% which is surprising for a bug rider
A very good journeyman, Trevor McCarthy, is 0-20 so far in sprints at the meet
Route Leaders
Julian Pimentel leads with 9 wins and has over a 50% win ratio
others over 20% are Hamilton and McCarthy
R Montanez is the only rider in the top 10 at under 10% he wins at a 6% clip
Turf Leaders
F Lynch leads with a whopping 31%
R Montanez is 2-5 for 40% on turf but the sample size is pretty small
we have 4 bad turf riders so far with these three a combined 1-41
Jevian Toledo has the one win but is 6%
these other 2 jocks are winless: at 0-8, Gomez, 0-5, Russell and second place rider Vargas at 0-11.
Dirt Leaders
Pimentel at over 50%
J A Vargas JR 24%
nobody is weak in this category
For me, Pimentel is an absolute upgrade in most races except for maybe turf right now. It’s too low a sample size due to weather, but in the dirt and route races, he is winning at more than half the time.
I know they have been off the turf a ton and are again on Thursday, but look out for Lynch when they get back on. Most riders have 1 or zero wins so far and he has 5. For me, it looks like he knows the turf course very well.
Montanez is a good value jock to me. His average winner pays over 10 dollars and is the leading sprint rider right now. Don’t just throw out his horses in sprint races.
Some jocks have preferences on what they can do better. Some are better on turf or dirt or better route to turf. I look for numbers of +4 or better. For example, when you see +5 S-R, it means that jock has 5 more wins sprinting over routing
