Looks like an amazing day in Lexington warm and sunny and a fast track.
Race 1
3-2-4
3- Dreaming Diamonds She’s been claimed in back to back Races and now finds herself up to the $20,000 level for a new trainer Lovell. Has one her last two quite easily and I’m looking for the three peat. Speed figures are as consistent as you can get and that figure should do well against these.
2- Miss Harry- running back in a week after a win at Keeneland. Is going up a class off the win and shortening in distance but should be there at the wire. Has good tactical speed and should lay off the speed of the speed and put a nice run in the stretch.
4- Swinging Bridge- not sure what’s going on with this four-year-old, Has had two poor races in a row one from June 2018 and the latest at Fair Grounds in March. Drops down considerably for this tilt for a trainer that usually does well at this meet. Looking for a better race similar to those prior to the June 9, 2018 Churchill run.
Race 2
2-6-7
2- Light of the World- is now racing for Davis who is 27% with the trainer change. Putting blinkers on for today’s event and has been training fairly well coming into this race. His prior speed figures should be a n indication that he is competitive with this field.
6- Stealth- I like this horse equally with the seven, both have similar profiles and I feel they are training up to this outing. This five-year-old gelding has been training well coming into this and tries Lasix for the first time.
7- My Cadet – similar to the six there’s three-year-old colt comes in with a new trainer and is looking for new opportunities. His first race at golf stream in February was not bad as he showed a mild rally going six.
Race 3
5-1-7
5- Mississippi- There’s lots to lake with this horse as he is third off the layoff and removing blinkers. Once a highly regarded colt I think he’s ready to get back into competition. If you look at his races from a year ago, you’ll see he was third in the Florida Derby but is taking a few steps backwards since then.
1- Sargent Drive- has great connections today for this ultra consistent runner. Speed figures are at or above the field and is trained very well leading into this race. I expect a quality showing today.
7- Ghost Story- A bit of an outsider here but I think his last four races indicate that he should show up well today. If you’re looking for a horse to be in your vertical wagers be sure to keep him in there.
Race 4
3-10-11
3- Please Sit Down – a recent Amoss claim, should be able to beat this field coming off a great race at Fair Grounds. Amoss hits with a high percentage first off the claim.
10- Firewater Jake- has three quality turf races in three starts on the grass. There is no reason to think against these today that he will be any worse than the top two.
11- Handsome Honey- another here with three straight exceptional turf tries. Coming from the outside is not a benefit but should be able to pick up pieces down the lane.
Race 5
5-4-3
5- Komrad – handicapping this race was not fun. I would not usually take a horse that is finished second by a neck in his last two and now going up in class. There really isn’t much competition on paper here and therefore he has my first pick. For the horizontal wagers you might want to include many in here.
4- Baron of Bluegrass – has done well on the turf and I’m hoping today he can transfer to the dirt, as there is not much in the race and he has shown some talent on paper. The trainer has a good 20% from turf to dirt.
3- Ruling empire – first time for trainer Murphy after being in the ward barn previously. Nice workouts leading to this race and I feel this three-year-old first time gelding should run better today.
Race 6
4-5-6
4- Classy Music- taking a bit of a shot here but she is coming back after being off a year for a quality trainer with quality workouts. The distance may be a little short, but should be able to sit off the early pace.
5- Saguaro Row- wow another coming off a year long layoff for a new trainer. They thought a lot of this Filly, early in her career and is trained well coming into this tilt. New trainer Stidham has done well with long layoffs.
6- Data Damsel- This one comes back after not racing since July 2018. Has also been training well for this come back for a quality trainer.
I’ll three of my pics here have similar statistics I’m looking for one of these to committed a very good price and to help my horizontal wagers.
Race 7
4-3-5-8-12
4- Connectivity- this Chad Brown trainee raced very well in her first start and not quite so well against much better in her second start. Looking for a nice come back race facing much easier here today but will be fairly low odds.
3- Not Orbinary- Longshot alert for this three-year-old that is been training very well for the start and comes from quality connections in Canada. I will be adding her to my vertical wagers as it looks like she is in shape coming out of both the March 30 and April 6 workouts.
5- Furiously Fast- not quite as fast as her name suggests, but she should do well first time turf for this expensive yearling purchase.
I have included others as pics for this race as these will be included in my horizontal wagers.
Race 8
1-2-3
1- Talk Veuve to Me- cuts back in distance and drops down significantly in class. Has been working very well with four straight bullets leading into this race. Was questioning the cut back to six but does show a very easy victory at the fairgrounds this time last year.
2- Awestruck- this girl loves Keeneland and has also been training well for this first race since January 26, 2019. Another that is dropping into an allowance race I have seven straight stakes.
3- Everyonelovesjimmy- add his blinkers for this and may be the speed of the speed.
Race 9
9-5-4-3-2
9- Exult- another Brown runner that has second-itis , should be able to prevail at lower cards against this bunch. Brown is hitting 70% in the money at this meet so far.
5- Lake Nakuru- Blinkers go on for this three-year-old making his second start off lay-off. Another with seconditis. Someone has to win.
4- Eons – I like this colt’s first two races and I like the connections today in the last race. Blinkers on and should get fairly good odds for this $300,000 yearling purchase.
Once again I have listed other picks that I’ll be using as longshots in my horizontal wagers.
