Gulfstream Park Racing Analysis — Friday, February 22, 2019, by David Pyrz

  1. Race 1: 4-5…. # 4 Mertz-shown speed on dirt and now on grass. With a good break could wire. # 5 Drama Free- Has run well in the past and could threaten top choice.
  2. Race 2: 5…. # 5 Ms. Maximum- trainer Pletcher is 25% turf to dirt and 2nd route race is 29%. A single in a so so race.
  3. Race 3: 8-1…. # 8 Battle of Memphis- 3rd lifetime start now gets Irad Ortiz and will be tough from the outside. # 1 Preacher Power- has shown a great late kick and likes GP.
  4. Race 4: Pass or all button.
  5. Race 5: 3-1…. Joe Di Baggio- ran big breaking maiden in last start now in against state bred winners but any improvement will win this. # 1 He’s Smokin Hot- back to a sprint, and back to state breds with Irad aboard.
  6. Race 6: 5-3…. # 5 Vigilante Justice- comes in from Laurel but might wake up under the warm sun and on the grass for a pretty good trainer. # 3 Matzo Bella- Jason Servis trained where he strikes at 40% 1st claim.
  7. Race 7: Pass or all button.
  8. Race 8: 3-2…. # 3 Souper Warrior– dropping and now on grass for the 1st time for a good trainer. Could surprise. # 2 Clear For Action- Dropping from MSW and has dangerous speed.
  9. Race 9: Pass or all button.
  10. Race 10: 3 Bondurant- was all over him in his last start when he went off at 18-1 and he had one of the worst stretch runs possible as he was blocked multiple times and was much the best. 15-1 ml today and were hoping he goes off at 5-1 or higher. If he is as ready as last time on 1-6-19 then it will take a lot to beat him.
  11. Race 11: 11- ALL… What a tough race.  If 15 or 16 draw in they could win but that looks doubtful so were going to bank on # 11 LittleRoughJustice- ran tough on poly at Woodbine in December and hoping the grass here in GP will wake up this runner. Punch the All button and hope for a price otherwise.
