Fairgrounds Saturday
Race 1:
(1) Star Performer seems to have his rivals overmatched Saturday. He is dropping in class and should take this race easily. He’ll get a good stalking trip if not outright on the lead. I don’t think you will get 2/1 come post time.
(7) Fuhr A Slam was eased last out but is wheeled back somewhat quickly which gives me confidence there is nothing wrong with the horse. Cross that race off and he is a contender in here.
(5) Yella Wally Gator is the second choice on the ML and one I will look to fade on the top two slots. He has a tendency to hang and at this level I will always pass on chandeliers.
1-7-5
Race 2:
(7) Holy Sunrise comes in off a bit of a break but I suspect will be ready to roll off the bench. HEs been working well as of late. Last out he was wide all the way around and ran much better than it looked.
(1) Geauxcro takes a class plunge in here. My fear is that at this distance and the price he will go off at, I will look elsewhere on top. He will be rolling late but might not have the ground to get there.
(5) Ricky Dale looks like he figured it out last start. If he runs back to that day he is a major player in here.
7-1-5
Race 3:
(1) Weneedtotalk is the best closer in a field littered with speed types. There is a lot of pace signed on and this one will be rolling late. Hopefully it heats up early and there is enough pace to get this one home.
(4) Acorn Street might be the speed of the speed. If the other jockeys grab and fear a speed duel this one could be the beneficiary.
(7) N.D. Free is my longshot play in this race. He has gone off at gargantuan odds the past few times out. He will be flying late and if the pace collapses he is a great trifecta and superfecta play underneath.
1-4-7
Race 4:
(3) Speedacious faced much better at Keeneland first out. He had a brutal start and should improve second time out.
(1) Fugitive Lady raced evenly in both starts so far. If there is any improvement in lifetime start number 3, he will be a major player in here.
(7) Starlet Scarlett is a favorite I will take a shot against. In his career debut, he didn’t run a step and didn’t have much of an excuse. Horses typically improve second out but I am willing to bet that improvement is not enough Saturday.
3-1-7
Race 5:
(1) Savage Battle has been racing against much better. This spot should be a nice little class drop and he’ll work out a good stalking trip.
(7) Whiskey Bravo should also work out a nice trip Saturday. I expect him to sit second flight and get the jump on the closers.
(3) Tropicat is the horse to beat with his figures but I fear this distance might be a tad sharp for his liking.
1-7-3.
Race 6:
(7) Sucre ran really well first out. If he runs back to that or shows any improvement second out, that should put him in the winners circle.
(8) Double Clutchin has been a beaten favorite in 5 of 6 lifetime starts. He is a serial money burner. I will let him beat me Saturday.
(5) Wasn’t Joking was in over his head last out. This class level should be much more to his liking.
7-8-5
Race 7:
(11) Hardcore Folklore raced evenly first out. He was very wide and still finished up okay. With a better trip I expect a better result.
(2) Uptown Ruler might work out the best trip in here as he should be on the lead early. There isn’t a ton of pace and if there is no pressure this one will be tough to catch.
(12) Firewater Jake showed early speed and faded quickly in his debut. I suspect he was not too keen of the sloppy track. Firm turf will suit him much better.
11-2-12
Race 8:
(7) Shining Knight ran really well against better first out. This is a bit of a drop and should work out a perfect trip under Geroux. The price will be short but anyting close to 2/1 is good value.
(6) Steeles Run had a rough go of it last out. Combine that with the long distance that might be out of his scope and I will give him a pass for that effort.
(2) Ukuru should be rolling late. There isn’t a ton of pace and that is my hesitation in putting him on top.
7-6-2
Race 9:
(4) Sanity is my longshot play on the card. This race is WIDE open and I want a price. He should work out a good stalking trip from the 4 hole. We will see if hes good enough as this is a step up in class.
(12) Justa Lady has good tactical speed and will need it from the outside post. If he can get good position early, this one will be tough to catch late.
(13) Brielle’s Appeal is the speed of the speed. There is no secret where this horse will be early. The only question is just how fast he will have to go in order to get said lead.
4-12-13
Race 10:
(7) El Tristan I hope is sent to the front and never looks back. He looks to be lone speed on paper in here.
(5) Miss you Jo found open company a bit too tough last out. He jumps back into state bred company Saturday which he should like much better.
(11) Delta Eighty Eight might be the only horse with enough gas early to hang with El Tristan early. If my top pick doesn’t fire this one should be the beneficiary.
