Belmont Park Racing Analysis- Wednesday Sept 25 2019- By Chris Felts

Back at it for some more Belmont action on this Wednesday afternoon, 8 races on today’s card with a scheduled first post of 1:00 P.M. Looks like it’s gonna be fast and firm, good luck if you’re playing and follow me on twitter for any updates and changes @cjfelts87.

Through 13 Daily Gallop writeups Total: 126-31-27-24 (25% win, 65% ITM)

Race 1 MSW 62k state bred fillies and mares 3up, 6.5 furlongs

Multi Race- A: 4,6 B: 2,5

Top pick- #6 Lady Macho

  • Best ability times of the field in recent races, Carmouche hops on who always does well on front runners and these types of races it helps to be close to the lead. Even money favorite and I wouldn’t take anything lower than that but she is a must-use in multis.

Second choice- #4 J J Jen

  • 2nd choice on the ML in a potentially chalky race to start the day. Comes out of an off track race at Saratoga where the slight cut back in distance may help her.

Underneath- #2 Stunning Beauty, #5 Irish Banker

Race 2 CLM 16k NW2L 3up, 1 1/16 miles

Multi Race- A: 2,5 B: 1,3

Top pick- #2 Purchasing Power

  • After being bumped at the start closed well to finish second and Rosario stays on today. Nice sharp workout in prep for this race.

Second choice- #5 Fallinginloveagain

  • Will be using defensively but I don’t like him as the 9-5 ML favorite. Lightly raced 5 year old gelding did show some ability last time at this level/ distance.

Underneath- #1 Curlin’s Knight, #3 Coach Villa, #7 Run for Boston

Race 3 CLM 25-30k NW2L fillies and mares 3up, 6.5 furlongs

Multi Race- A: 5,6 B: 3,7

Top pick- #6 Party in the Sand

  • Could provide some nice value here at 4-1 ML. First off the claim for trainer James Ryerson who has a positive ROI with that move, positive jock switch to Rosario as he stays at the same level.

Second Choice- #5 Ragtime Suzy

  • She’s 2/2 ITM on a fast dirt track with a win and a second, nice looking Union Rags filly should be right in it pace wise as they turn for home. Luis Saez on any frontrunner is a plus too.

Underneath- #2 G.T. Sonia, #3 Prairie Fire, #7 Eight Oaks

Race 4 MSW 75k 3up, 6.5 furlongs

Multi Race- A: 1,5 B: 4,6

Top pick- #1 Somes Sound

  • I’m not going to play a 1-5 ML favorite. Instead I’ll take a shot with this colt by Ghostzapper, showed improvement last time and now adds blinkers so he will be right on the front end as Junior Alvarado stays on.

Second choice- #5 Free Enterprise

  • He’s the aforementioned 1-5 ML for the Chad Brown/Castellano/Klaravich trio, keeps knocking on the door but I will gladly play against and if he beats me at 1-5 (or lower), so be it.

Underneath- #4 Kid Bourbon, #6 Cobble Hill

Race 5 CLM 20k 3up, 1 1/16 miles

Multi Race- A: 1,7 B: 3,6

Top pick- #1 Mills

  • Hard running 9 year old gelding fits well here based on the pace scenario where there is enough speed for him to close late. Ran a figure better than today’s par against tougher last race at Saratoga when grabbing second and Manny Franco stays on. Goes off 32-1 then and is 5-2 ML which should say something too.

Second choice- #7 Halloween Horror

  • Dylan Davis should have him on or near the lead and the hope is he will be involved as they turn for home. Rounding up in his current form cycle and 9-2 ML seems like a nice price today.

Underneath- #3 Curlin Road, #6 Turco Bravo

Race 6 CLM 32k 3yo, 1 mile turf

Multi Race- A: 3,6 B: 2,8

Top pick- #3 Spinning Kitten

  • Improving in form with every race and can sit off the pace in a race that has a good amount of speed. 2 seconds with Carmouche who is on him today and I’d expect to see him running when it matters.

Second choice- #6 Impazible Odds

  • Bit of a longshot at 10-1 ML but his last race didn’t get the best trip as he was bumped at the start. Junior won on him 2 back and he enters this race second off the layoff (broke his maiden doing the same thing) as he cycles back to the top of his form cycle in what very well could be a career best race for him.

Underneath- #2 Honorable Hero, #7 Tricky Magician, #8 Artemus Bridge

Race 7 AOC 40k N2X state bred 3up, 6 furlongs

Multi Race- A: 6 B: 2

Top pick- #6 Gypsum Johnny

  • Based off the pace scenario he makes the most sense here. This race is loaded with speed and we will have to wait and see which of the speed horses send it and battle on the lead, if that happens it would set up very nicely for him to close late and win.

Second choice- #2 Binkster

  • Early speed horse will certainly be involved with the early pace. Has won before with Dylan Davis and there’s slight evidence he’s not a true need the lead type but 7-5 ML is way too short of a price for me.

Underneath- n/a

  • Not a great betting race for exotics. Stick to win or multis.

Race 8 MCL 40k state bred fillies and mares 3up, 6 furlongs turf

Multi Race- A: 2,4 B: 3,7

Top pick- #4 Kathy’s Cause

  • Has competitive ability times and figures to run close to today’s par. Hopefully gets sent to the lead with Luis Saez in this salty group of state bred maidens. Nice 10-1 ML value play.

Second choice- #2 Kitty Therapy

  • Improving in form as she drops down from the maiden special ranks. Rajiv Maragh stays on and hopefully the softer company can help her track today’s pace a little easier.

Underneath- #3 Mz Seb Pat, #7 Miss Ross, #11 Abby Normal
